¿De Qué viene?

Filmada en 1936, Night of the Ghoul por el escritor y director T.F. Merritt estaba destinado a sentarse junto a Frankenstein y Drácula como un clásico instantáneo. . . Pero la legendaria película nunca llegó a la gran pantalla. Justo antes de que terminara la edición, un misterioso incendio en el estudio destruyó las imágenes y mató al elenco y al equipo que celebraban en la fiesta de despedida. Forest Inman es un obsesionado con las películas de terror que digitaliza películas antiguas para el famoso estudio de cine Aurora. Cuando Forest tropieza con un bote de imágenes aparentemente olvidado, es posible que haya descubierto los restos del clásico perdido Night of the Ghoul. Este descubrimiento envía a Forest a una odisea oscura, donde un anciano misterioso le advierte que el demonio de la película es mucho más que una obra de ficción: es un monstruo muy real que planea matarlo.

Este comic fue lanzado inicialmente en Comixology como un comic digital, esta es primera vez que sale en version impresa.

TRAMA

Forest Inman logra dar con el paradero del director TF Merrit, a quien admira por su trabajo en la película Night of the Ghoul.

Merrit está en un hospital, es una persona de avanzada edad que vive con las cicatrices del incendio que quemó la película en 19646. Merrit le avisa a Inman que por haber visto los fragmentos de la película ahora su vida corre peligro, también la de su hijo porque la vio.

Inman solo vió fragmentos donde unos soldados luego de estar en Italia quedaron poseídos por el poder de Ghoul, un ser que es como una mezcla de Vampiro con Zombie, ya que esta maldición es como una enfermedad que se transmite por la mordida y succión de sangre que vuelve a las víctimas en zombies. Merrit insiste que hay una conspiración para liberar a este ser pronto.

Merrit basó la historia de su película en su padre que al parecer trajo el Ghoul de Italia a Estados Unidos en 1917.

Este cómic es una maravilla narrativa, donde poco a poco nos adentran en este mundo de ocultismo y maldiciones. Tiene esa vibra de la película SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE, donde la trama de la película es recrear una realidad tenebrosa.

ARTE

Francesco Francavilla es un genio artístico que logra el tono perfecto de película de terror y cómics de pulpa de la década de 1940, con esa paleta de colores cálidos rojizos. Es asombroso.

Resumen

Night of The Ghoul te transporta a un mundo donde el terror folk se mezcla con hechos históricos contemporáneos brindando un tono realista brillante.

What does it come from?

Shot in 1936, Night of the Ghoul by writer/director T.F. Merritt was meant to sit beside Frankenstein and Dracula as an instant classic . . . But the legendary film never made it to the silver screen. Just before editing was finished, a mysterious studio fire destroyed the footage and killed the cast and crew celebrating at the wrap party. Forest Inman is a horror film obsessive who digitizes old films for the famed Aurora movie studio. When Forest stumbles across a seemingly forgotten canister of footage, he just might have discovered the remnants of the lost classic Night of the Ghoul. This discovery sends Forest on a dark odyssey, where he is warned by a mysterious old man that the film's ghoul is far more than a work of fiction: it's a very real monster who plans to kill him.

This comic was initially released on Comixology as a digital comic, this is the first time it has come out in print.

PLOT

Forest Inman manages to track down director TF Merrit, whom he admires for his work on the film Night of the Ghoul.

Merrit is in a hospital, he is an elderly person who lives with the scars of the fire that burned the film in 19646. Merrit warns Inman that for having seen the fragments of the film now his life is in danger, also that of his son because he saw her.

Inman only saw fragments where some soldiers after being in Italy were possessed by the power of Ghoul, a being that is like a mixture of Vampire with Zombie, since this curse is like a disease that is transmitted by biting and sucking blood. that turns victims into zombies. Merrit insists that there is a conspiracy to free this being soon.

Merritt based his movie story on his father who reportedly brought the Ghoul from Italy to America in 1917.

This comic is a narrative wonder, where little by little we enter this world of occultism and curses. He has that vibe from the movie SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE, where the plot of the movie is to recreate a dark reality.

ART

Francesco Francavilla is an artistic genius who strikes the perfect tone of 1940s horror movie and pulp comics, with that warm reddish color palette. He is amazing.

Summary

Night of The Ghoul transports you to a world where folk horror mixes with contemporary historical events achieving a brilliantly realistic tone.
