"Matteo y yo nos conocemos desde hace muchos años y a menudo hablamos de trabajar juntos en un proyecto", dijo Aragno. “Siempre lo pospusimos, tal vez porque aún no había llegado la idea adecuada, pero finalmente llegó hace unos meses y nos envolvió por completo. Como si hubiera salido directamente de una mente común, empezamos a pensar en algo sobre viejos marineros, mares tormentosos y oscuros secretos. Tuvimos varias lluvias de ideas y de esas charlas nació el eje central de nuestra historia. Cuando leí la trama que había escrito Matteo, me llamó la atención; teníamos que hacerlo realidad. Gracias a Dark Horse y a las maravillosas Jenny y Misha logramos componerlo de la mejor manera posible, realmente le puse toda mi alma y ¡lo pasé genial! Matteo escribe desde Dios y pude dibujar y colorear cosas que nunca antes había hecho, inmerso en esas atmósferas espeluznantes y saladas”.

“Es curioso que a los dos nos cueste recordar cómo y cuándo exactamente nos conocimos”, añadió Casali. “Sé que vi algo del arte de Rachele, probablemente en línea, y me enamoré de él. Todavía no había publicado su primer libro, Melvina, pero sabía que tenía lo necesario para triunfar como profesional. Pasó el tiempo, nos mantuvimos en contacto (¡nunca nos vimos en persona hasta 2022!) y resultó que tenía razón cuando ella se convirtió en la increíble artista que es hoy. Habíamos estado hablando sobre la posibilidad de trabajar juntos durante años, cuando una obra de arte que publicó me hizo decir: "¿No sería divertido finalmente hacer algo como esto juntos?". ¿Y sabes qué? Lo hicimos. Lo más divertido, en las primeras etapas de Aquinnah, fue que Rachele me dijo que quería ser desafiada y llevada por un "camino oscuro y horrible". Resulta que el verdadero desafío fue para mí, porque amaba su maravilloso y a veces relajante estilo artístico. Pero me encantan los buenos desafíos y cuando comencé a escribir tenía ese camino oscuro despejado para ambos. Así que lo tomamos y caminamos hasta la oscura costa de Aquinnah…”

As if it had come straight from a common mind, we started thinking of something about old sailors, stormy seas and dark secrets. We had several brainstorms and from those chats the central crux of our story was born. When I read the plot Matteo had written, I was struck by it; we had to make it happen. Thanks to Dark Horse and the wonderful Jenny and Misha we managed to compose it in the best possible way, I really put all my soul into it and I had a blast!
