Ghost Machine Productions lanza REDCOAT un nuevo personaje que lo conocimos en los dos especiales GEIGER 80-PAGE GIANT #1 (2022) y GHOST MACHINE #1 ONE-SHOT (2024), del escritor Geoff Johns, el artista Bryan Hitch, que narra las aventuras de un casi héroe de guerra que forma parte del universo de los UNNAMED que incluye a Geiger y Junkyard Joe.

¿De qué viene?

Es 1909, y Simon Pure ha cambiado la pólvora y la gloria por días tranquilos y un trabajo rutinario. Pero algo —o alguien— arrastrará al inmortal casaca roja de vuelta a la aventura. ¿Qué amenazas se avecinan? ¿Y qué viejo amigo ha vuelto a llamar a su puerta para reavivar la llama?

El pasado nunca muere. Y Simon Pure está a punto de recordar por qué.

Trama

Simon Pure vive como un asistente de un sastre en 1909, se hace llamar ahora Simon Plum y ya dejó atrás sus aventuras con su casaca roja y noches de fiestas y bebidas.

Aunque su inmortalidad sigue siendo su constante, es su secreto a su familia, porque Simon ya sentó cabeza, tiene una esposa llamada Margaret, una hija llamada May y un hijo llamado Albert. Su vida es rutinaria y llena de paz, finalmente lo que Simon busco, sin embargo le preocupa seguir siendo inmortal, quiere tratar de solucionar esto antes de que el tiempo lo delate.

En la puerta de Simon toca nada más y nada a menos que su amigo Albert Einstein, ya mayor y con bigote, quien se sorprende la vida familiar de Simón, pero viene a darle una mala noticia...el terrible Benedict Albert, el otro inmortal que forma parte de la secta de los Padres Fundadores regresó.

Este nuevo arco argumental trae de regreso a Nemesis de Simón, quien casi le quita su inmortalidad y destruye la nación (Leer Volumen 1), manteniendo esta interesante narrativa donde mezcla hechos y personajes históricos importantes reales, con esta especie de realismo mágico conspirativo.

Arte

Bryan Hitch ofrece su visión cinematográfica, dónde dirige secuencias de acción hipnotizantes y captura los detalles y tonos de cada época de antaño. Los colores crean la atmósfera perfecta que te transporta a principios del siglo XX.

Tiene un manejo de las escalas hipnotizante, transporta y te sacude con visiones realistas impactantes en un formato muy parecido al cinematográfico.

Resumen

Simón sienta cabeza al llegar al Siglo XX, sin embargo su inmortalidad y aventuras son secretos difíciles de guardar cuando un terrible enemigo regresa

What does it come from?

It’s 1909, and Simon Pure has traded gunpowder and glory for quiet days and a clock-punching job. But something—or someone—will drag the immortal redcoat back into adventure. What threats loom? And which old friend has come knocking to reignite the fire?

The past is never dead. And Simon Pure is about to be reminded why.

Plot

Simon Pure lives as a tailor's assistant in 1909. He now calls himself Simon Plum and has left behind his adventures in his red coat and nights of revelry and drinking.

Although his immortality remains a constant, it's a secret from his family, because Simon has settled down. He has a wife named Margaret, a daughter named May, and a son named Albert. His life is routine and peaceful, finally what Simon sought. However, he worries about his continued immortality and wants to try to fix it before time betrays him.

At Simon's door, none other than his friend Albert Einstein, now older and with a mustache, knocks. Albert is surprised by Simon's family life, but he's come to deliver bad news... the terrible Benedict Albert, the other immortal who is part of the Founding Fathers cult, has returned.

This new story arc brings back Simon's nemesis, who nearly stripped him of his immortality and destroyed the nation (Read Volume 1), maintaining this intriguing narrative that blends real historical events and important figures with a kind of conspiratorial magical realism.

Artwork

Bryan Hitch delivers his cinematic vision, directing mesmerizing action sequences and capturing the details and tones of each bygone era. The colors create the perfect atmosphere that transports you to the early 20th century.

His masterful use of scale is mesmerizing; he transports and shakes you with striking, realistic visions in a very cinematic format.

Summary

Simon settles down upon reaching the 20th century, but his immortality and adventures are difficult secrets to keep when a terrible enemy returns.
