Arte 
Es una mezcla de Fantasía con ciencia ficción, en perfecto balance que en momentos se adentra en el Steampunk, donde los detalles resaltan todo este universo fértil de historias y personajes. 


Mike Deodato Jr. juega con la distribución de los paneles de cada página dándole un dinamismo genial y adictivo, donde ofrece tonos lúgubres de terror y luego una iluminación llena de esperanza, donde la estética rememora la magia y fotografía de la película original del Mago de Oz.  El diseño de los personajes muestra una evolución magnífica.

Trama 
Tip es rehén de la bruja Mombi a las afueras de la ciudad Esmeralda en un lugar llamado Gillikin Country. Tip es su esclavo y tiene a un ser con cabeza de calabaza vigilandolo, se llama Jack Pumpkinhead




Esto ocurre cuando Dorothy usa sus zapatillas plateadas para volver a su casa en Kansas. 


Con el Mago de Oz prófugo, Glinda, la bruja buena designa al Espantapájaros como el Soberano de Oz, a Tin Woodman como Emperador de Winkie Country y al León como el Rey de las Bestias.


Tip es rescatado por el equipo de asalto de Oz, se llama S.O.O.T (SPECIAL OZ OPERATION TEAM), integrado por cuatro mujeres guerreras llamadas Skye Swinger, Til Loon, Elektra y Shirley Sunshine con su nave inteligente llamada Owen, que es una especie de pájaro mecánico. Mombi ataca a Owen y S.O.O.T con una ave de fuego que los estrella, Tin Woodman va a su ayuda estrenando un nuevo traje y hacha espectacularmente diseñados, una mezcla de fantasía con Scifi!



Tip demuestra tener algo de magia cuando misteriosamente se salva de ahogarse. por lo que su origen se remonta a una antigua historia sobre la heredera del reinado de Oz. Es una historia sobre la autoaceptación con muchos matices.

Este primer volumen narra el regreso de la verdadera soberana de Oz y el regreso de Dorothy a su dura realidad en Kansas, sin embargo no hay todavía un elemento que conecte a ambas
Interesante secuela del gran clásico cuya versión fílmica se convirtió en un hito e inspiró a generaciones y sigue siendo un referencia cultural

Synopsis: 
UFC and WWE champion, multi-ESPY award-winner, and Hollywood actress RONDA ROUSEY steps out of the ring and into the world of graphic fiction with her debut graphic novel EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED.

Her codename: “Mom.” With a fake baby bump filled with guns, she’s built a reputation as one of the deadliest hit-women on the planet. But on the verge of her big break in the criminal underworld, Mom makes a fateful decision: sleeping with a potential target (who just so happens to be a top-ranked assassin himself). What follows is a wild mashup of action, adventure, comedy, and romance as a newly pregnant Mom with a bounty on her head fights off wave-after-wave of assassins, falls in love with her baby daddy, and decides how to face her personal and professional predicament.

Art
It's a blend of fantasy and science fiction, perfectly balanced, and at times it even dips into the steampunk genre, where the details bring to life this rich universe of stories and characters.

Mike Deodato Jr. plays with the layout of the panels on each page, giving it a fantastic and captivating dynamism, offering both somber, almost terrifying tones and then moments of bright, hopeful illumination, with an aesthetic that evokes the magic and cinematography of the original Wizard of Oz film. The character designs also show a remarkable evolution.

Plot
Tip is being held hostage by the witch Mombi on the outskirts of Emerald City in a place called Gillikin Country. Tip is her slave and is being watched over by a creature with a pumpkin head, named Jack Pumpkinhead.

This happens after Dorothy uses her silver slippers to return to her home in Kansas.

With the Wizard of Oz on the run, Glinda, the good witch, appoints the Scarecrow as the Sovereign of Oz, the Tin Woodman as Emperor of Winkie Country, and the Lion as the King of Beasts.

Tip is rescued by the Oz assault team, called S.O.O.T (SPECIAL OZ OPERATION TEAM), made up of four female warriors named Skye Swinger, Til Loon, Elektra, and Shirley Sunshine, with their intelligent spaceship called Owen, which is a kind of mechanical bird. Mombi attacks Owen and S.O.O.T with a firebird, crashing their ship. The Tin Woodman comes to their aid, wearing a new, spectacularly designed suit and wielding a new, equally impressive axe—a blend of fantasy and sci-fi!

Tip demonstrates some magical abilities when he miraculously survives drowning, leading to the revelation that his origins are linked to an ancient story about the rightful heir to the throne of Oz. It's a story about self-acceptance with many nuances.

This first volume recounts the return of the true sovereign of Oz and Dorothy's return to her harsh reality in Kansas, although there is no connection between the two stories yet. An interesting sequel to the great classic whose film adaptation became a landmark, inspiring generations and remaining a cultural icon.
