What does it come from?

SMURFS ARCHIVES continues its mission to present Peyo’s SMURFS stories in order of their  original publishing date with Volume Five of the series. Following the massive cultural breakthrough of THE SMURFS brand in the 1980s, Peyo began to personally oversee the
publication of SCHTROUMPF, a monthly magazine that was originally published in French from 1989 to 1992.

A mix of comics, illustrated text stories, games, articles, and DIY educational pieces (such as craft instructions and recipes), SCHTROUMPF strove to entertain fans in every aspect of the word - from a very smurfy perspective. Featuring a wealth of content that has never been published in English alongside classic material, SMURFS ARCHIVES VOLUME FIVE begins the journey through the first era of “SCHTROUMPF MAG”– a wondrous trip previously unfamiliar to many fans worldwide, and a fresh experience for those who may not have seen these stories since their first publication decades ago.

Legendary Smurfologist, Matt. Murray, smurfs a brand-new introduction and commentary alongside never-before-seen Peyo art that adds historical context and insight to this beautiful hardcover collection that is sure to make everyone’s must-smurf list.

Plot and Art
This fifth remastered installment of this collection of illustrations reprints the Smurfs comics in French by their original creator, originally published between 1989 and 1992. These comics represent the pinnacle of the franchise and were a landmark in pop culture during the 1980s and 1990s.

These comics were characterized by their short, stories that narrate the amusing adventures of this community of beings whose innocence and clumsiness create hilarious situations that blend magic, adventure, and the villain Gargamel's constant, failed pursuits. Written and illustrated by the legendary Peyo, their creator, this is a collector's item that highlights his unique cartoonish art, which has inspired and will continue to inspire generations of artists.

It includes many interesting facts about this universe and its creative process.

This collection is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for those who experienced the Smurf craze and got used to conjugating the verb "Smurf" in sentences, and at the same time it is the perfect starting point for those who have just discovered them.
