Ghost Machine Productions lanza REDCOAT un nuevo personaje que lo conocimos en los dos especiales GEIGER 80-PAGE GIANT #1 (2022) y GHOST MACHINE #1 ONE-SHOT (2024), del escritor Geoff Johns, el artista Bryan Hitch, que narra las aventuras de un casi héroe de guerra que forma parte del universo de los UNNAMED que incluye a Geiger y Junkyard Joe.
¿De qué viene?
El inmortal casaca roja británico Simon Pure lleva más de 100 años vivo... y sigue siendo un pésimo tirador. ¡Y llega Annie Oakley, la tiradora más famosa del Salvaje Oeste! Siempre da en el blanco... sobre todo en el corazón de Simon. ¿Será amor o muerte a primera vista? Con Simon, siempre apostamos por la muerte primero.

Que vengan muchos años más
En 1890 Simon escapaba de un grupo de pistoleros a los cuales les engañó en un juego de cartas y aunque logró escapar en un tren, por ser tan distraido y confiado, cayo en el río Missouri sin nada de dinero.
Al llegar al pueblo más cercano se consigue con una competencia de tiro de la cual podría ganar dinero y asci calmar su hambre y sed eterna consecuencias de su inmortalidad.
La competencia es con Annie Oakley, quien es muy hábil con las armas y una tiradora fenomenal y consigue en Simon un contrincante digno, ya que Simon luego de más de cien años vivo ha logrado perfeccionar su puntería. Annie Oakley está basada en un personaje real de la historia del Viejo Oeste Americano, hay muchas referencias a su vida en este cómic.
La competencia es interrumpida por un tiroteo realizado por los Hermanos Rogers, quienes acababan de liberar a su hermano de la cárcel. Annie se lleva a Simón a lo alto de una casa para dispararle a todos, ella necesitaba que Simon solo disparara a uno solo, pero Simon está sufriendo una especie de depresión y cuando lo logra, las palabras de Annie lo entusiasmaron a creen en sí mismo. Simon está perdidamente enamorado de Annie, quien es una mujer casada.
Esta entrega es lo que se llama un "feel good" comic, una historia única para hacernos sentir bien, sin embargo en la última página introducen a The NORTHERNER, un misterioso soldado que forma parte del universo de personajes UNNAMED, cuyo objetivo es eliminar a Simon, el se aparece de la nada.
Arte
Bryan Hitch ofrece su visión cinematográfica, dónde dirige secuencias de acción hipnotizantes y captura los detalles y tonos de cada época de antaño. Los colores crean la atmósfera perfecta de una época ruda de posguerra.
Tiene un manejo de las escalas hipnotizante, transporta y te sacude con visiones realistas impactantes en un formato muy parecido al cinematográfico.

What does it come from?

Plot

In 1890, Simon was escaping from a group of gunmen he had tricked in a card game. Although he managed to escape on a train, due to his absent-mindedness and trust, he fell into the Missouri River with no money.
Upon reaching the nearest town, he finds himself in a shooting competition where he could win money and thus quench his eternal hunger and thirst, the consequences of his immortality.
The competition is with Annie Oakley, who is very skilled with weapons and a phenomenal shooter. In Simon, she finds a worthy opponent, as Simon, after more than a hundred years of life, has managed to perfect his aim. Annie Oakley is based on a real character from the American Old West; there are many references to her life in this comic.
The competition is interrupted by a shootout by the Rogers Brothers, who had just released their brother from prison. Annie takes Simon to the top of a house to shoot everyone. She wanted Simon to shoot just one, but Simon is suffering from a kind of depression, and when he succeeds, Annie's words inspire him to believe in himself. Simon is madly in love with Annie, who is a married woman.
This issue is what's called a "feel good" comic, a unique story meant to make us feel good. However, on the last page, they introduce The Northerner, a mysterious soldier who is part of the universe of Unnamed characters, whose goal is to eliminate Simon. He appears out of nowhere.
Art
Bryan Hitch offers his cinematic vision, directing mesmerizing action sequences and capturing the details and tones of each era. The colors create the perfect atmosphere of a harsh post-war era.
His command of scale is mesmerizing, transporting and shocking with striking realistic visions in a very cinematic format.
Summary
Simon Pure finds hope for moving forward and impossible love in a shooting competition.
