Estos dos creadores, tiene una amplia carrera en los comics, que vamos a intentar resumir:
David Braña nació en Barcelona en 1973. Su pasión desde niño por los cómics le llevó a comenzar a escribir sus primeros guiones siendo un adolescente y a publicar fanzines.
Ha guionizado cómics cortos en distintas publicaciones como Dark Hearts (Nowevolution), El Arca de las Historietas, Ensueños, Sinónimos de Lucro, Z-Time (Markosia), Revista Cthulu (Diábolo), Tomb Of Terror, Androide Paranoide, Refugiados, Viaje a Xambala (Grafito), WAK!, Espanto, la antología solidaria PAZ (Serendipia). Y obras de mayor extensión como las dos entregas de DOS: Primeros síntomas y Buscando respuestas en Vigo y Evil War (Drakul); Mercury (Babylon); Los ocultos, Mil Lobos y Vivar (Nowevolution); Madeja, Lady Enigma y Córtex (Cósmica Editorial); Monte Arruit, Pax Anza y La Batalla de Rande / A Batalla de Rande (Cascaborra Ediciones / Editorial Galaxia); Lady Enigma (Aces Weekly en su versión en inglés); Tamia et les mémoires du dragon (Akileos), Dugan (Sallybooks), Good Bastard (Serendipia) y la miniserie El Azote (Unrated Cómics).
También ha realizado labores de coordinación y corrección de textos en revistas y antologías. En la actualidad se encuentra preparando nuevos proyectos para distintos mercados, que verán la luz próximamente.

Pablo Cialoni, cuyo nombre artístico es Pahito, es oriundo de Argentina, ha trabajado como ilustrador y storyteller en AMC Breaking Bad; Club Atlético Rosario Central, GAP y SYFY.
Ha trabajado en los cómics Angelito y los orígenes de Central de la editorial Homo Sapiens Ediciones en 2019 con guión de Gustavo D`assoro, también en Tamia Et Les Mémoires Du Dragon de la editorial Akileos en 2022 con guion de David Braña

Entrevista traducida del inglés con David Braña:
1.- Este cómic narra la aventura y el viaje heroico de cada uno de los integrantes de la banda. ¿Alguno de ellos está basado en algún familiar o amigo? ¿O alguna vez has formado parte de una banda?
No tuve en mente a ninguna persona conocida de mi entorno para el diseño de los personajes. Intenté que fuesen personajes diversos y reconocibles, que, de alguna manera, sus aspectos encajasen con sus personalidades. Solo tuve en consideración sus nombres como guiño a músicos famosos y reconocidos del panorama musical del metal. Aunque siempre me ha gustado el rock y el heavy metal y todas sus "ramificaciones", lo cierto es que nunca me he planteado formar parte de una banda de música. He tenido una banda de amigos afines a mis aficiones, pero nunca nos planteamos intentar ser músicos, sí que hacíamos cómics porque a mí me gustaba escribir tengo un par de amigos que sabían dibujar y ahí empezamos a desarrollar nuestras ideas en forma de viñetas, aunque al final he sido el único que ha seguido en el mundo del cómic, ellos se lo tomaron más como una "simple" afición.
Escucho a muchas bandas de música, todas relacionadas con el rock y el metal (heavy, thrash, death, gothic, black...). En mi lista de canciones, tengo grupos clásicos como Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Carcass, Black Sabbath (o Ozzy en solitario), AC/DC, Cradle Of Filth, Death, Slayer, Arch Enemy, Emperor, Motörhead, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Delain, Queen, Helloween, Pink Floyd... Junto a otras más "actuales", como Defacing God, Foretoken, Harlott, Volturian... Prefiero no elegir a una en concreto porque todas me gustan y también depende mucho del momento concreto y estado ánimo, pero sí puedo decirte que, si pudiese elegir un concierto y fuese posible, mi sueño sería ver a Queen en directo con el inigualable Freddie Mercury.
3.- Esta novela gráfica se centra en cómo este grupo de amigos debe superar tres desafíos aterradores para lograr su sueño. ¿Por qué tres desafíos y no 4 o 5?
Hay varios cameos en la historia. Es cierto que algunos personajes son "más fáciles" de reconocer porque tienen un aspecto más icónico. Pero sí, es parte de mi "juego personal", casi para homenajear a estos grandes músicos que me han hecho (y me hacen) disfrutar tanto.
Con Pahito ya había trabajado anteriormente en un cómic para el mercado francés, Tamia y las Memorias del Dragón, orientado hacia un público infantil, así que conocía muy bien su trabajo y además fue una experiencia estupenda trabajar con él. Poco después de terminar el cómic, me enteré (en alguna conversación que tuvimos) que él, al igual que yo, escuchaba metal y entonces recordé una idea que tenía en mente desde hacia tiempo a la que no había conseguido darle "la forma" que quería, un cómic titulado Spinal Cord. Fue pensar en el proyecto de nuevo, asociarlo al estilo de Pahito y todas las piezas encajaron como por arte de magia, todas las ideas fluyeron como no había conseguido que fluyesen antes. Pahito tiene algo muy valioso para un dibujante, un estilo personal, algo reconocible en cuanto ves su trabajo. Y una capacidad narrativa estupenda. Para mí era perfecto para el proyecto, porque no quería caer en los tópicos del género, haciendo una historia "densa y oscura", sino algo más "plástico", expresivo y "ligero", más cercano, como bien dices, a la animación. Por momentos me recuerda a aquellos dibujos clásicos de la serie Scooby Doo y creo que le sienta muy bien al cómic.
7.- ¿Habrá un Volumen 2?
Aún es pronto para saberlo, pero te aseguro que tengo ideas y muchas ganas para seguir contando historias de Spinal Cord, estoy esperando a tener la oportunidad.

David me envió las descripciones de cada personaje, tomé eso y busqué referencias que encajaran en esos parámetros. Pero lo básico de las personalidades fue muy bien definido por David en el guión.
Yo formé parte de algunas bandas en el pasado, y ahora estoy iniciando un proyecto llamado Agüeik con algunos amigos. Espero que pronto podamos compartir algo al respecto.
2.- ¿Cuáles son tus bandas de música favoritas?
Mis bandas favoritas en este momento son Mastodon, Baroness y Sepultura.
3.- Esta novela gráfica se centra en cómo esta banda de amigos debe superar tres desafíos aterradores para lograr su sueño. ¿Por qué tres desafíos y no 4 o 5?
No tengo la respuesta exacta para esto, creo que ese es el territorio de David. Pero me gusta pensar que 3 + 3 = 6 (666).
4.- ¿Esta historia es una metáfora del sacrificio que debe hacer un artista, en este caso un músico, para alcanzar el éxito? ¿Hacer cosas que no estaría dispuesto a hacer en otras circunstancias?
Creo que esta historia nos dice que si nos rodeamos de las personas adecuadas, el camino del sacrificio y la superación personal puede ser duro, pero más llevadero.
5.- Tu arte tiene algunas influencias de dibujos animados geniales y algo de ingenuidad, ¿Era esta la visión que imaginabas para esta historia?
Sí, creo que el arte final es exactamente lo que imaginaba. Aunque el trabajo de un artista siempre está en constante proceso de evolución, lo que más me interesaba era transmitir las personalidades de cada uno de los personajes, y creo que eso se logró.

1.- This comic narrates the adventure and hero's journey of each of the band members. Are any of them based on a family member or friend? Or have you ever been part of a band?
I didn't have in mind any well-known people around me for the design of the characters. I tried to make them diverse and recognizable characters, so that in some way their aspects fit with their personalities. Although I have always liked rock and heavy metal and all its "branches," the truth is that I have never considered being part of a band. I have a group of friends who shared my hobbies, but we never considered trying to become musicians. We did make comics because I liked to write. I have a couple of friends who knew how to draw, and that's when we started to develop our ideas in the form of cartoons. In the end, I was the only one who continued in the world of comics. They took it more as a "simple" hobby.
I listen to a lot of bands, all related to rock and metal (heavy, thrash, death, gothic, black...). In my playlist I have classic groups like Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Carcass, Black Sabbath (or Ozzy solo), AC/DC, Cradle Of Filth, Death, Slayer, Arch Enemy, Emperor, Motörhead, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Delain, Queen, Helloween, Pink Floyd... Along with some more "current" ones, like Defacing God, Foretoken, Harlott, Volturian... I prefer not to choose one in particular because I like them all,and it also depends a lot on the specific moment and mood, but I can tell you that if I could choose a show to attend and it were possible, my dream would be to see Queen live with the incomparable Freddie Mercury.
Above all, because of one aspect of the story structure. Three challenges seemed to me to be the right number to also find "space" between them and develop other elements related to the characters themselves. It also has to do with the numerical aspect: Route 666 is three numbers and 3+3 is 6. I think all the pieces fit together well that way.
There is one aspect of stories that I am passionate about, and it is the individual perspective that each person can bring when reading them. We tend to have an internal process and reach conclusions, depending on our personal moment and what, at times, we need. We sometimes look for answers and even reflections that satisfy us and allow us to feel part of those stories. And that is something wonderful, sometimes even healing. And it is something that should not be interfered with by anyone, not even by the author or authors themselves. My intention is always to tell a story that is interesting, fun, and entertaining--a pleasant experience. With Spinal Cord I wanted the friendship and relationships between the band members to have a lot of weight, with their different personalities that in some ways are compatible and complete each other. For me, a friend is much more than having someone to go out for a drink with and laugh for a while (which is also enjoyable). Rather, it is someone with whom I can share intimacies, with whom I can practice sincerity without fear of rejection, and give or receive a hug when needed. Of course, there is also the aspect of the current state of the music industry, which is quite a challenge and goes beyond bringing together talented people; the current world is very competitive, excessively so in my opinion, and that makes us behave sometimes in a less "human" way. And then there are all the elements that make the story fun and where I have taken inspiration from parts of my childhood, both in personal experiences and in my own hobbies. Bringing together comics, music, and horror in a single story has been a dream come true.
We took inspiration from a lot of rock and metal culture from the history of the music.
I had already worked with Pahito on a comic for the French market, the children’s book Tamia and the Memories of the Dragon, so I knew his work very well and I also had a great experience working with him. Shortly after finishing that comic, I found out (in a conversation we had) that he, like me, listened to metal. And then I remembered an idea I had had in mind for a while that I hadn't managed to give the “shape" I wanted, a comic called Spinal Cord. I thought about the project again in context of Pahito's style, and all the pieces fit together like magic, all the ideas flowed as I hadn't managed to do before. Pahito has something very valuable in a cartoonist, a personal style, something recognizable as soon as you see his work. And he has a great narrative ability. For me he was perfect for the project, because I didn't want to fall into the clichés of the genre, making a "dense and dark" story, but something more "plastic," expressive and "light," closer to animation. At times it reminds me of those classic cartoons from the Scooby Doo series, and I think it suits the comic very well.
7.- Will there be a Volume 2?
It is still too early to know for sure if it will be possible, but I assure you that I have ideas and a lot of desire to continue telling Spinal Cord stories. I am waiting for the opportunity of telling Spinal Cord stories.

David sent me the descriptions of each character, I took that and looked for references that fit those parameters. But the basics of the personalities was very well defined by David in the script.
