Dark Horse Comics adapta el bestseller Mitología Nórdica escrita por Neil Gaiman en formato cómic. El guión es adaptado por P. Craig Russell, con diferentes ilustradores invitados.

¿De Que viene?

El autor número uno del New York Times, Neil Gaiman, y la leyenda de los cómics ganador del premio Eisner, P. Craig Russell, dan nueva vida a las antiguas historias nórdicas al llevar a los lectores a través de la creación de los Nueve Mundos al origen épico y las aventuras de Thor, Odin y Loki hasta el final de la vida: Ragnarok.

TRAMA

Este cómic incluye la historia "the mead of the poets" que narra como nace la poesía según la mitología nórdica.

Todo comienza con el tratado de paz entre los Aesir y los Vanir, que consiste en escupir en un "barril" como parte de la unión y hermandad de pueblos, pero Odin se le ocurre que deben hacer algo con  todas esta saliva y Freya crea a un hombre.

Este ser se llama Kvasir, el dios más sabio a quien todos en el reino le piden consejo.

Kvasir decide un dia visitar a los 9 reinos para aprender mucho mas y se topa con dos Dark Elves, Fjalar y Galar, quienes lo desangran en un barril creado por ellos y al beber su sangre son capaces de decir poesías.

Odin y Freya se preocupan por la desaparición de Kvasir.

Un dia Fjalar y Galar se meten en problemas con un gigante y le pagan con la sangre de Kvasir.

Odin decide ir a buscar a Kvasir con una piedra de afilar cuchillos y un taladro manual y es cuando empieza a castigar a todos aquellos que han bebido la sangre de Kvasir. La historia sigue en el próximo número.

La manera de narrar estas historias con las ilustraciones hacen que este cómic se sienta natural, su lectura se hace ligera y adictiva.

ARTE

Matt Horak provee de un arte lleno de detalles que eleva la historia, logra destacar cada uno de estos personajes asi como sus emociones.

What does it come from?

PLOT

This comic includes the story "the mead of the poets" that tells how poetry was born according to Norse mythology.

It all begins with the peace treaty between the Aesir and the Vanir, which consisted of spitting into a "barrel" as part of the union and brotherhood of peoples, but Odin thinks that they must make something with all this saliva and Freya believes a man.This being is called Kvasir, the wisest god whom everyone in the kingdom asks for advice.

Kvasir decides one day to visit the 9 kingdoms to learn much more and meets two Dark Elves, Fjalar and Galar, who bleed him into a barrel created by them and by drinking their blood they are able to say poetry.Odin and Freya worry about Kvasir's disappearance.

One day Fjalar and Galar get into trouble with a giant and pay him with the blood of Kvasir.

Odin decides to go find Kvasir with a knife sharpening stone and a manual drill and it is when he begins to punish all those who have drunk the blood of Kvasir. The story continues in the next issue.

The way of telling these stories with the illustrations makes this comic feel natural, its reading becomes light and addictive.

ART

Matt Horak provides an art full of details that elevates the story, manages to highlight each of these characters as well as their emotions.
