Starting in February, BLACK PANTHER VARIANT COVERS, the latest variant cover collection from the current Class of Marvel’s Stormbreakers, celebrate the 60^th anniversary of Black Panther.

 

New York, NY— December 5, 2025 — Next year marks the 60^th anniversary of Black Panther, one of Marvel’s most groundbreaking super heroes! In addition to Black Panther Anniversary Special #1, a special one-shot with thrilling new tales from iconic Black Panther creators, Marvel’s Stormbreakers will help celebrate the milestone with new BLACK PANTHER VARIANT COVERS.

 

Featured on titles starting in February, the covers depict T’Challa teaming up with fellow Marvel icons, including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and his greatest love, Storm! The landmark over-sized one-shot celebrates 60 years of T’Challa and Wakanda with brand-new, thrilling stories from a lineup of fan-favorite writers, artists, and those who have helped define Black Panther’s legacy, including writer Christopher Priest!

 

Here are some of the stories fans can look forward to: 

 

·       Writer Evan Narcisse (Wakanda, Sam Wilson: Captain America) and artist George Jeanty (Star Wars: Mace Windu) bring back former Black Panther, Kasper Cole! In this framing story, join Cole as he searches for Wakanda’s exiled king, learning about some of T’Challa’s never-before-told adventures in the process.

·       Superstar writer Christopher Priest returns to his groundbreaking Black Panther with a surprising encounter T’Challa had with Magneto, set during the time the Master of Magnetism ruled his own African nation, Genosha.

 

Black Panther’s 60^th anniversary coincides with an exciting new status quo for the character. The king of Wakanda is currently trying to unite his kingdom—both on Earth and in the stars—in Black Panther: Intergalactic, a four-issue limited series by Victor La Valle and Stefano Nesi debuting next month. New York, NY— February 24, 2023 — This morning, NBC’s TODAY Show revealed the cover and design sheet for the highly anticipated BLACK PANTHER #1. Coming this June, T'Challa returns in the new solo ongoing comic book series by writer Eve L. Ewing (MONICA RAMBEAU: PHOTON, IRONHEART) and Marvel’s Stormbreaker artist Chris Allen.

Banished from the throne and a fugitive in his own homelands, T'Challa still can't leave Wakanda without its sworn protector. A king without a crown, he finds new purpose lurking the streets and shadows of the Wakandan city that bears his father's name, BIRNIN T'CHAKA. New direction, new villains, new creative team – get in on the ground floor of Marvel’s next smash hit! Get a first look at the revamped design for T’Challa now.

 

"I am so excited for people to see this character design! T'Challa is going to be looking really different. It's much more edgy and kind of homespun. It's not so sleek and slick. Not giving too much away from the story, he's trying not to be seen. He's kind of working incognito," Ewing told TODAY. "What I can say, honestly, is that we will be seeing Wakanda in a way that we have not seen it ever before."

Eve’s new ongoing series follows notable flagship Black Panther runs written by legendary authors, most recently including John Ridley, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and many talented writers who have contributed to other Black Panther and Wakanda series including Nnedi Okorafor, Roxane Gay, Yona Harvey, Evan Narcisse, Bryan Edward Hill, Tochi Onyebuchi, Rembert Browne, and more.
