EL ARTISTA SUPERESTRELLA MARK BROOKS REPRESENTA A LOS ÍCONOS DE MARVEL EN NUEVAS PORTADAS DE ESTILO ANIMADO

 

El año pasado, las representaciones de estilo animado de Mark Brooks de los personajes de Marvel tomaron por asalto las redes sociales. Ahora, los fanáticos podrán coleccionarlas, ya que aparecen como portadas variantes en cómics selectos de Marvel a partir de febrero.

Muy lejos del estilo de superhéroe estándar del artista superestrella, Brooks creó diseños de ojos brillantes inspirados en dibujos animados para varios héroes y villanos de Marvel. Desde los Vengadores hasta los X-Men, estas queridas piezas se emparejarán o agruparán en 26 portadas llamativas y se colocarán en títulos relevantes. Cada portada variante de estilo animado también estará disponible como portadas variantes vírgenes.

“Hace casi un año comencé a dibujar mis personajes animados de Marvel como calentamiento todas las mañanas, solo por diversión”, compartió Brooks. “Se convirtió en una forma de relajarme y dibujar algo diferente a mi estilo habitual. Nunca soñé que más de 200 personajes después verían la luz del día como ilustraciones oficiales de Marvel. Tengo muchos más para mostrar e incluso más que quiero dibujar. ¡No podría estar más emocionado de verlos adornar las portadas de algunos de mis libros favoritos y espero que el público disfrute coleccionándolos tanto como yo disfruté creándolos!”

Mark Brooks’ Animated-Style covers grace select Marvel comics starting in February.

                                                                                                                            

New York, NY— November 21, 2024 — This past year, Mark Brooks’ animated-style depictions of Marvel characters took social media by storm! Now, fans will be able to collect them as they’re featured as variant covers on select Marvel comics starting this February.

 

A far cry from the superstar artist’s standard super hero style, Brooks created bright-eyed, cartoon-inspired designs for various Marvel heroes and villains. From the Avengers to the X-Men, these beloved pieces will be paired off or grouped together across 26 eye-catching covers and placed on relevant titles. Each Animated-Style Variant Cover will also be available as virgin variant covers.

 

“Almost a year ago I started drawing my animated Marvel characters as a warm-up every morning just for fun,” Brooks shared. “It became a way for me to loosen up and draw something different from my normal style. I never dreamed that over 200 characters later that they would see the light of day as official Marvel artwork. I have so many more to show and even more that I want to draw. I couldn't be more thrilled to see them grace the covers of some of my favorite books and hope the audience enjoys collecting them as much as I did creating them!”

New York, NY— January 30, 2024 — This March, see the X-Men like you’ve never seen them before in ULTIMATE X-MEN #1! The third series of Marvel’s thrilling new Ultimate line, ULTIMATE X-MEN #1 will be written and drawn by visionary creator Peach Momoko. Momoko will kick things off with fan-favorite X-Man Hisako Ichiki, AKA Armor, along with Maystorm, the Storm-inspired character she created for last year’s popular New Champions Variant Cover program. 

 

Armor is a teenage girl who just wants to live a normal life - go to school, hang out with her friends, ignore the political strife broiling over after the events of ULTIMATE INVASION - but life has other plans for her. In Japan, urban legends have sprung to life and brought some unusual new powers with them…

 

“At first, I was worried about being chosen for such an important project, but the more I draw and write the series, the more confident I am with my own vision of ULTIMATE X-MEN,” Momoko told AiPT Comics in last week’s X-Men Monday column. “ULTIMATE X-MEN isn’t directly influenced by classic X-Men stories. I like to believe C.B. [Cebulski] and Jonathan Hickman chose me because they wanted something completely new and different.”

Utilizing the classic comic book tradition of corner boxes in a unique new way, Brooks depicts lineups and characters from throughout both team’s histories. Today, fans can check out the two installments that will debut in July, adorning AVENGERS #3 and X-MEN #24!

 

For this duo, Brooks takes things back to the ‘80s, a decade that was home to some of the Avengers and X-Men’s greatest stories. It was a little preview to tantalize the reader. It was always heads, a full figure, or a micro-scene. No matter what, it enticed me to pick the book up. It’s why I started the #LetMarkCornerbox campaign in earnest on Twitter. It was primarily a joke to express my love for the corner box. It ended up taking on a bit of a life of its own. When C.B. told me that they’d like this to become a reality, I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve penciled well over 100 heads so far. I don’t plan on stopping until Marvel says ‘okay, that’s enough’- LOL!”
