TRAILER, ADELANTO Y PORTADAS DE "RED SONJA #1" CON UNA CARTA DE TORUNN GRONBEKK LA NUEVA ESCRITORA

Red Sonja proviene del universo de Robert E. Howard , ella es oriunda de Hyrkania, la llaman Sonja la roja no solo por su cabellera escarlata, es por toda la sangre que ha derramado su espada.

Hablemos de Red Sonja.
Los inviernos noruegos son famosos por ser largos y fríos, pero es la oscuridad lo que te atrapará. Se siente como algo más que la ausencia de luz: es como un ser vivo que se filtra silenciosamente y se apodera de ti y del mundo que te rodea durante meses. La única forma de combatirlo es a través del fuego y la luz, tanto en sentido literal como figurado.
Este invierno, Sonja fue mi luz.
No estoy seguro exactamente cuándo supe que Red Sonja era algo especial, pero debo haber sido bastante joven. Recuerdo haber interpretado a Sonja cuando era niña, deambulando por el bosque detrás de nuestra casa con varias armas y enemigos imaginarios. Una vez, tomé prestada (robé) la pesada espada vikinga de mi madre (demasiado) y pasé el día matando hordas de bárbaros infectados. Me lastimé bastante, me corté la espinilla con una roca durante una batalla particularmente vigorosa (como en un accidente con un columpio de cuerda. Estaba "escalando una fortaleza", si no me falla la memoria), pero no fui a casa. Era verano, los días eran interminables, el mundo estaba lleno de magia y Sonja difícilmente permitiría que una pequeña herida la detuviera ahora, ¿o sí? Todavía tengo la cicatriz (y, ahora que lo pienso, ¡la espada! ¡Qué ladrona!).
Ahora bien, es posible que esta historia no lo convenza de que Sonja es un buen modelo a seguir, pero creo sinceramente que lo es. Hay algo en la combinación de su alegría, fuerza formidable, deleite y desvergüenza que es bastante exclusivo de Sonja. No acepta que otros limiten lo que ella puede ser, ni le importa especialmente cuando la gente desaprueba lo que hace. Le importaba cero f * cks antes de que fuera una cosa. Y para un joven Torunn, ella era la maldita libertad.
Décadas más tarde, estoy escribiendo Red Sonja en la oscuridad del invierno. Con sensatez, he cambiado la espada por un bolígrafo, pero escapar al mundo de Sonja es tan alegre como siempre. Mientras el invierno nos mantenía en su asfixia habitual, y el mundo exterior se volvía cada vez más absurdo, me he deleitado con el género, con el ingenio de Sonja y con el sangriento y horrible viaje en el que nos hemos embarcado.
Dynamite quería ir a lo grande y volver a lo básico para el 50 aniversario de Sonja, y eso es exactamente lo que hemos hecho. Sonja es perseguida por el reino, acusada de un asesinato que (probablemente) no cometió y perseguida por una presencia misteriosa que no puede explicar. Es una aventura brutal, ingeniosa y llena de acción bellamente dibujada por el brillante Walter Geovani. Ahora, en este punto, Walter ha dibujado más números de Red Sonja que nadie, y se nota. La acción es perfecta, el mundo es mágico y la propia Sonja es tan deslumbrante como siempre.
La gente lanza la frase "trabajo de amor" todo el tiempo, pero rara vez ha sido más adecuada. Hay mucho amor en este libro: por el género, por los cómics, pero sobre todo, por la propia Sonja. (Pero para que quede claro, no es una historia pacífica. También nos encantan las cabezas decapitadas). Los colores atmosféricos de Omi Remalante Jr. complementan perfectamente el arte de Walter, y las excelentes letras de Simon Bowland lo unen todo. El resultado es una celebración de Sonja. ¡Espero que te unas a nosotros!

Let’s talk about Red Sonja.
Norwegian winters are famously long and cold, but it’s the darkness that'll get you. It feels like more than just the absence of light – it’s like a living being that soundlessly seeps in and takes over you and the world around you for months on end. The only way to fight it is through fire and light, both literally and figuratively.
This winter, Sonja was my light.
I’m not sure exactly when I knew Red Sonja was something special, but I must have been pretty young. I remember playing Sonja as a kid, roaming around in the woods behind our house with various weapons and imaginary enemies. One time, I borrowed (stole) my mother’s (way too) heavy viking sword and spent the day slaying infected hordes of barbarians. I hurt myself pretty badly, slicing my shin open on a rock during a particularly vigorous battle (as in, a rope swing accident. I was "scaling a fortress," if memory serves), but I didn’t go home. It was summer, the days were endless, the world was full of magic, and Sonja would hardly let a small flesh wound stop her now, would she? I still have the scar (and, come to think of it, the sword! What a thief).
Now, this story might not convince you that Sonja is a good role model, but I sincerely believe she is. There is something about the combination of her joy, formidable strength, delight, and shamelessness that is quite unique to Sonja. She does not accept others limiting what she can be, nor does she particularly care when people disapprove of whatever she does. She gave zero f*cks before it was a thing. And to a young Torunn, she was bloody freedom.
Decades later, I am writing Red Sonja in the dead and dark of winter. I have sensibly exchanged the sword for a pen, but escaping into Sonja’s world is as joyful as ever. As the winter kept us in its usual chokehold, and the world outside became increasingly nonsensical, I have reveled in the genre, in Sonja’s wit, and in the bloody, horrible journey we’ve embarked on.
Dynamite wanted to go big and back to basic for Sonja’s 50th anniversary, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. Sonja is hunted through the realm, accused of a murder she (probably) did not commit, and pursued by a mysterious presence she cannot explain. It is a brutal, witty, action-packed adventure beautifully drawn by the brilliant Walter Geovani. Now, at this point, Walter has drawn more issues of Red Sonja than anyone else, and it shows. The action is spot-on, the world is magical, and Sonja herself is as stunning as ever.
People throw around the phrase "labor of love" all the time, but it has rarely been more fitting. There is a lot of love in this book: for the genre, for comics, but most of all, for Sonja herself. (But just to be clear, it’s not a peaceful story. We also love decapitated heads). Omi Remalante Jr.'s atmospheric colors complement Walter’s art perfectly, and Simon Bowland's excellent lettering pulls it all together. The result is a celebration of Sonja. I hope you will join us!
