Ghost Machine Productions lanza REDCOAT un nuevo personaje que lo conocimos en los dos especiales GEIGER 80-PAGE GIANT #1 (2022) y GHOST MACHINE #1 ONE-SHOT (2024), del escritor Geoff Johns, el artista Bryan Hitch, que narra las aventuras de un casi héroe de guerra que forma parte del universo de los UNNAMED que incluye a Geiger y Junkyard Joe.
¿De qué viene?
Es 1909, y Simon Pure siempre ha esperado que su eterno rival, Benedict Arnold, se hubiera perdido en el mar y se hubiera convertido en cenizas tras su último enfrentamiento en 1892. Pero no fue así, y Arnold ha regresado… no para vengarse, según afirma, sino para ayudar a la familia de Simon a alcanzar la inmortalidad como él. Lo cierto es que Arnold ha cambiado… de maneras que Simon jamás habría imaginado.
Trama
Simon rescata a Albert Einstein de la inundación en el sótano de la casa de Paul Revere, mientras la secta de los Founding Fathers se llevan a Benedict, ellos le explican a Simon que siguen órdenes de su líder George Washington.
Albert descansa en la casa de Simón y le dice que lo más seguro es que Benedict esté atrapado debajo de los muelles. Los Founding Fathers están buscando el hacha de las mentiras para matar a Benedict.
En su casa Simon saluda a sus hijos May y Albert, mientras su esposa Margaret le pregunta por que está todo mojado, Simon decide contarle a Margaret que es inmortal. Margaret lo tomó muy mal, se siente traicionada y le preocupa que esta sea una maldición que va a afectar a toda su familia.
En los muelles Simon lucha contra el culto de los Founding Fathers e intenta liberar a Benedict, pero ellos escapan y Simon sigue desesperado por la promesa de Benedict de volver a toda su familia inmortal.
Al regresar a casa Simon descubre que Margaret, May y Albert lo abandonaron, ella le dejó su casaca roja, todo lo que había construido estos últimos diez años se está desmoronando.
Este nuevo arco sigue aumentando el nivel de tensión y misterio mientras sigue mezclando la historia real de la independencia de EE.UU con teorías conspirativas escalofriantes
Arte
Bryan Hitch ofrece su visión cinematográfica, dónde dirige secuencias de acción hipnotizantes y captura los detalles y tonos de cada época de antaño. Los colores crean la atmósfera perfecta que te transporta a principios del siglo XX.
Tiene un manejo de las escalas hipnotizante, transporta y te sacude con visiones realistas impactantes en un formato muy parecido al cinematográfico.

What does it come from?
It’s 1909, and Simon Pure has long hoped that his fellow immortal nemesis Benedict Arnold drifted out to sea and turned to ash when they last tangled in 1892. But such was not to be, and Arnold has returned…but not for revenge, he claims, but to help Simon’s family become immortal like him. The truth is, Arnold has changed…just in ways Simon would never expect.
Plot
Simon rescues Albert Einstein from the flooding in the basement of Paul Revere's house, while the Founding Fathers cult takes Benedict away. They explain to Simon that they are following orders from their leader, George Washington.
Albert rests at Simon's house and tells him that Benedict is most likely trapped under the docks. The Founding Fathers are searching for the Axe of Lies to kill Benedict.
At home, Simon greets his children, May and Albert, while his wife, Margaret, asks him why everything is wet. Simon decides to tell Margaret that he is immortal. Margaret takes it very badly; she feels betrayed and worries that this is a curse that will affect her entire family.
At the docks, Simon fights the Founding Fathers cult and tries to free Benedict, but they escape, and Simon remains desperate because of Benedict's promise to make his entire family immortal.
Upon returning home, Simon discovers that Margaret, May, and Albert have abandoned him. She left him her redcoat, and everything he had built over the past ten years is crumbling.
This new arc continues to escalate the tension and mystery, blending the true history of American independence with chilling conspiracy theories.
Art
Bryan Hitch delivers his cinematic vision, directing mesmerizing action sequences and capturing the details and tones of each bygone era. The colors create the perfect atmosphere, transporting you to the early 20th century.
His masterful use of scale is mesmerizing; he transports and shakes you with striking, realistic visions in a format very close to cinematic.
Summary
Simon loses Benedict, while the Founding Fathers continue their plan to eliminate him as a traitor. Redcoat's revelation to his wife about his immortality creates a rift.
