La narrativa de Byrne es magnífica y con una fluidez tal que es imposible parar de leer, captura la inocencia de ese equipo de héroes así como su camaradería.
El editor Chris Ryall y el diseñador Ian Chalgren con ABRAMS COMICARTS, se encargaron de realizar un genial trabajo de poder trasladar todos estos cómics creados para un formato semanal y darle ese tono nostálgico de la década de 1980 pero al mismo tiempo se siente fresco y moderno.
Este es sin duda el mejor cómic de los X-men que ha creado John Byrne, y posiblemente una de las mejores sagas de estos personajes ambientados en esa década.
La páginas splash son hipnotizantes, cada una termina con tanta emoción que te hace pasar a la próxima, su lectura es adictiva, esto es una obra de culto instantánea, con cameos espectaculares de otros héroes de Marvel, donde se mantiene esa distancia entre subuniversos de personajes tan marcada.
En sus manos tienen el primer volumen de una obra maestra, que surgió como un fan fiction que se convierte en un What if...? alucinante, que es un regalo para los fanáticos que vivieron y leyeron todos esos cómics de la década de 1980, pero también es perfecto para que nuevos lectores.

Plot and Art
This stunning book reimagines the X-Men story right when the Phoenix Force first awakens in Jean Grey, taking a more logical and organic course with thrilling adventures that contain the classic X-Men formula: a blend of science fiction, social drama, and action.
Byrne's narrative is magnificent and so fluid that it's impossible to put down. It captures the innocence of this team of heroes as well as their camaraderie.
Editor Chris Ryall and artist Ian Chalgren, with Abrams Comicarts, did a brilliant job of adapting these comics, originally created for a weekly format, and giving them that nostalgic 1980s feel while still maintaining a fresh and modern feel.
This is undoubtedly the best X-Men comic John Byrne has created, and possibly one of the best sagas featuring these characters set in that decade.
The splash pages are mesmerizing, each one ending with such excitement that you're compelled to turn to the next. It's an addictive read, an instant cult classic, featuring spectacular cameos from other Marvel heroes, while maintaining a distinct separation between character sub-universes.
In your hands, you hold the first volume of a masterpiece, which began as fan fiction and evolved into a mind-blowing "What if...?" scenario. It's a gift for fans who lived through and read all those comics of the 1980s, but it's also perfect for new readers.
