Trama
El Cardenal Striker le notifica al Obispo de EE.UU...Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler que el Vaticano prepara una ofensiva hacia la nueva especie de vampiros mutantes, llamado EMPYRES que viene de Mutantes-Vampiros, M-PIRES. Estos nuevos vampiros son letales y conservan sus poderes después de la transformación. El Vaticano quiere que Kurt lidere esta ofensiva.
Desde hace años hay una tregua entre Mutantes y Vampiros, sin embargo, el líder de los mutantes Magneto y su equipo Polaris, Havok, Quicksilver y Scarlet Witch monitorean todos sus movimientos y en casos de ataques de Vampiros lanza a su arma secreta...CYCLOPS, quien elimina a Gambit, Glob y Empath vampiros.
Los Empyres mueren casi de la misma manera que los vampiros humanos, solo son inmunes a las estacas de madera en el corazón.
Storm es la líder de los Empyres y es notificada por Kurt de que viene una guerra.
Esta nueva visión le da un giro al género de terror de vampiros al crear una nueva cepa de chupasangre mutantes generando fricciones entre antiguos compañeros mutantes. Marvel incursiona en el universo vampiresco.

Se apoya en las sombras para ofrecer un tono lúgubre y misterioso que les creara piel de gallina.

Plot
Cardinal Striker informs the U.S. Bishop—Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler)—that the Vatican is preparing an offensive against a new species of mutant vampires known as "Empyres" (derived from "Mutant-Vampires" or "M-Pires"). These new vampires are lethal and retain their powers after transformation. The Vatican wants Kurt to lead this offensive.
A truce has existed between mutants and vampires for years; however, mutant leader Magneto and his team—Polaris, Havok, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch—monitor every move. In the event of vampire attacks, they deploy their secret weapon: Cyclops, who eliminates the vampire versions of Gambit, Glob, and Empath.
Empyres die in much the same way as human vampires, though they are immune to wooden stakes driven through the heart.
Storm leads the Empyres and is warned by Kurt that war is coming.
This new take puts a fresh spin on the vampire horror genre by creating a new strain of mutant bloodsuckers, sparking friction among former mutant allies. Marvel ventures into the world of vampires.

The artwork relies on shadows to create a dark, mysterious atmosphere that is sure to give readers goosebumps.
