What does it come from?
The Blackest Night and Aquaman team of GEOFF JOHNS and IVAN REIS continue their epic horror series! Picture, if you will, a holiday season filled not with joy or cheer, but with shadows and secrets. Enter a man known only as Mr. X-Ray. His journey is a desperate one, seeking escape from the inescapable. Standing in his way, an innocent malevolence: Pranky, a boy scout who lives not to serve his fellow man, but to serve the dark power that presides over Hyde Street. Yet, during this strange Christmas tale, these two unlikely figures may find common ground…or not.
Plot
This episode takes place on Christmas Eve and tells how Pranky visits Mr. X-Ray to teach him how to seize souls for this demonic being called Scorekeeper, who has control over all of Hyde Street. Pranky does this against his will, because he is forced by Scorekeeper.

Mr. X-Ray knows that the only way to escape Hyde Street is to deliver ten thousand souls to Scorekeeper, currently Pranky has eighteen thousand, but he does not want to leave this place, because here he can be cruel to the adults who disappointed him as a child, he is an eternal child living his perverse dream.

The victim is a thief who pretends to be Santa Claus and robs all the houses at Christmas, disappointing children and ruining Christmas. Pranky makes a show dressing up as an elf and begins to psychologically torture this thief, as Mr. X-Ray does nothing he throws him off the sleigh. Mr X-Ray wants to escape from Hyde Street to see his daughter, but he doesn't agree with torturing people who made mistakes and who can change their minds.

Out of nowhere another mysterious being called the Matinee Monster appears, who gets rid of Pranky and using a sphere makes the thief remember why he does what he does, showing regret for ruining a child's Christmas, as they ruined his own. Matinee Monster manages to save this thief and helps him leave Hyde Street.

This new character offers a change in Mr X-Ray's plans, who wants to escape from this place but must first eliminate Pranky, but now he has a new element. While Pranky has 18,000 souls in his favor, Matinee Monster has zero.

This Christmas chapter closes with a cliffhanger and a new character who promises to change everything.

Art
Ivan Reis offers his organic, mesmerizingly detailed art that lends a grim tone to seemingly harmless moments, with excellent facial expressions and superb handling of body language.

Summary
Pranky tries to show off his torture techniques to Mr X-Ray, but Christmas offers a happy ending in the form of another mysterious Scorekeeper prisoner.
