Sinopsis: 

Inmortal. Mercenario. Un tanto peculiar. Les presentamos a Simon Pure, el nuevo héroe SIN NOMBRE, creado por los aclamados autores de cómics Geoff Johns y Bryan Hitch, ahora reunido en una edición de lujo en tapa dura con extras exclusivos.

Soldado británico y pícaro por excelencia, Pure ha vivido una vida de lo más emocionante. O, mejor dicho, varias. Tras un fallido intento de asesinato del general George Washington en la batalla de Trenton en 1776, Simon se topó con unas figuras encapuchadas que realizaban un extraño ritual que, por accidente, le otorgó la inmortalidad.

Desde aquel fatídico día, Simon ha muerto y resucitado incontables veces, codeándose (y a veces peleando) con las figuras más célebres de la historia, incluyendo a su archienemigo Benedict Arnold, Albert Einstein, los asesinos en serie de la vida real conocidos como los Bloody Benders, el ícono estadounidense Johnny Appleseed, la francotiradora del Salvaje Oeste Annie Oakley y muchos más. Pero ninguno de esos encuentros lo prepara para El Norteño, un misterioso viajero del tiempo que necesita la ayuda de Simon para impedir que la Confederación gane la Guerra Civil. Eso sí, si logran encontrar la manera de colaborar en lugar de matarse entre sí.

Este volumen concluye con un viaje a Washington, D.C., donde Simon se topa con una aparición en la Casa Blanca, en un preludio a la miniserie FIRST GHOST.

Recopila los números 1 al 14 de Redcoat e incluye material detrás de cámaras, arte del proceso creativo y comentarios del equipo.

Trama

Simon Pure es inmortal, pero le es difícil aprender de sus errores y en cambio de ser un don celestial es más como un castigo, la visión que muestran sobre la inmortalidad en este cómic es única y honesta. Todo está ambientado en el nacimiento de EE.UU como nación y se nutre con personajes reales en situaciones fuera de lo común llenas de misterios y fenómenos paranormales, donde el origen del poder de Simon tiene una explicación que va más allá de la ciencia que conocemos.

En este volumen incluye tres arcos argumentales.

El primer va desde el #1 al #7 y narra el viaje del héroe de este personaje poco convencional que es un desertor, charlatan, picaro, mujeriego y sumamente torpe, con una ingenuidad tal que les robará el corazón. El ritmo narrativo es emocionante y los diálogos son un deleite. Entre todos los personajes historias que forman parte de este primer arco, la historia gira en torno a la amistad entre Simon y un Albert Einstein adolescente.

El segundo arco ocurre en el #8 al #11, con  tres historias diferentes y autoconclusivas donde Simon se tropieza con personajes reales legendarios de la historia de EE;UU que vivieron en la era de independencia como Annie Oakley y Johnny Appleseed y una historia sobre la guerra hace que otros criminales psicópatas operen sin ser descubiertos, donde la ingenuidad, torpeza y confianza excesiva de Simon le hace entrar y salir de apuros.

El tercer arco entre el #12 al #14 introducen a THE NORTHERNER, este misterioso viajero en el tiempo que intenta detener un cambio histórico terrible que lo está orquestando otro viajero llamado Mr Cobbler.  

THE NORTHERNER viene de un futuro alterno donde la Guerra Civil de EE.UU la gana el Sur, su objetivo es tratar de detener este cambio temporal porque EE.UU como nación no nacerá y eso significa la muerte de Simón. The Northerner y Simon Pure se conectan con Geiger y Junkyard Joe de una manera importante y decisiva para el universo de UNNAMED.

La narrativa que mezcla hechos históricos con elementos de y realismo mágico hacen de este volumen entretenido, educativo y brillante. 

Esta edición es de gran tamaño y de lujo incluye con mucho material extra sobre el proceso creativo detrás de esta obra maestra.

Bryan Hitch ofrece su visión cinematográfica, dónde dirige secuencias de acción hipnotizantes y captura los detalles y tonos de cada época de antaño. Los colores crean la atmósfera perfecta de una época ruda de posguerra, su arte es una experiencia inmersiva.

Synopsis

IImmortal. Mercenary. Kind of a tool. Meet Simon Pure, the newest UNNAMED hero, created by comic all-stars Geoff Johns and Bryan Hitch, now collected in a deluxe hardcover edition featuring exclusive extras.

A British soldier and all-around rogue, Pure’s led quite an exciting life. Or lives, really. After a failed assassination of General George Washington at the Battle of Trenton in 1776, Simon stumbled upon hooded figures performing a bizarre ritual that accidentally gave him immortality.

Since that fateful day, Simon has died and returned countless times over, rubbing elbows (and sometimes fists) with history’s most renowned figures, including his nemesis Benedict Arnold, Albert Einstein, real-life serial killers the Bloody Benders, American icon Johnny Appleseed, Wild West sharpshooter Annie Oakley, and many more. But none of those encounters prepare him for The Northerner—a mysterious time-traveler who needs Simon’s help to prevent the Confederacy from winning the Civil War. That is, if the two can find a way to work together instead of killing one another.

This volume closes out with a trip to Washington, D.C., as Simon encounters a haunting in the White House in a prelude to the FIRST GHOST miniseries.

Plot 

Simon Pure is immortal, but he struggles to learn from his mistakes, and instead of being a divine gift, it feels more like a punishment. The vision of immortality presented in this comic is unique and honest. Set against the backdrop of the birth of the United States as a nation, it features real-life characters in extraordinary situations filled with mysteries and paranormal phenomena, where the origin of Simon's power has an explanation that transcends the science we know.

This volume includes three story arcs.

The first, from issue #1 to #7, narrates the hero's journey of this unconventional character: a deserter, a charlatan, a rogue, a womanizer, and incredibly clumsy, with an endearing naiveté that will steal your heart. The narrative pace is thrilling, and the dialogue is a delight. Among all the characters and stories that make up this first arc, the story revolves around the friendship between Simon and a teenage Albert Einstein.

The second arc, spanning issues #8-11, features three distinct, self-contained stories where Simon encounters legendary figures from American history who lived during the Revolutionary War, such as Annie Oakley and Johnny Appleseed. A story about the war reveals other psychopathic criminals operating undetected, where Simon's naiveté, clumsiness, and overconfidence lead him into and out of trouble.

The third arc, from issues #12-14, introduces THE NORTHERNER, a mysterious time traveler attempting to halt a terrible historical shift orchestrated by another traveler named Mr. Cobbler.

THE NORTHERNER hails from an alternate future where the South wins the American Civil War. His goal is to prevent this temporal change because the United States as a nation will never be born, which would mean Simon's death. The Northerner and Simon Pure connect with Geiger and Junkyard Joe in a way that is significant and pivotal to the UNNAMED universe.

The narrative, which blends historical facts with elements of magic realism, makes this volume entertaining, educational, and brilliant.

This giant size deluxe edition includes a wealth of bonus material about the creative process behind this masterpiece.

Bryan Hitch offers his cinematic vision, directing mesmerizing action sequences and capturing the details and tones of each era of yesteryear. The colors create the perfect atmosphere of a harsh post-war era, his art is an immersive experience.
