EL GUIONISTA DAVE COLLARD ESTRENA SU PRIMERA NOVELA GRÁFICA, “TRANSPLANTES”

 

Dark Horse Books presenta Transplants, una novela gráfica de superhéroes y ciencia ficción que invita a la reflexión escrita por Dave Collard (Family Guy, Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness) en su debut en los cómics. Domenico Carbone se une como dibujante y entintador junto con el colorista Josh Rodríguez y el rotulista Frank Cvetkovic.

Cuando Jess finalmente recibe el ansiado trasplante de órganos que necesita desesperadamente para vivir, cree que todos sus problemas han quedado atrás. Eso es hasta que comienza a desarrollar algunos efectos secundarios interesantes del trasplante: un nuevo conjunto de habilidades y superpoderes fantásticos. Cuando descubre que todos los demás que recibieron órganos de este donante también están experimentando lo mismo, todos deben averiguar quién era este donante y decidir qué hacer con los poderes: usarlos para el bien, el mal o simplemente ignorarlos por completo. 

"La idea de esta novela gráfica surgió, como todas las grandes ideas, mientras hacía cola en el DMV", dijo Collard. “Cuando marqué la casilla en la renovación de mi licencia, dando mi consentimiento para ser donante de órganos, pensé: 'Me siento mal por el pobre tonto que se queda con mis ojos miopes'. Y eso llevó (naturalmente) a las preguntas: "Oye, ¿y si Superman fuera un donante de órganos? ¿Y si este tipo blanco de mandíbula cuadrada hubiera transferido sus poderes a un grupo de personas que tradicionalmente no han tenido poder?" De repente, finalmente logré contar una historia de superhéroes. Con TRASPLANTES, estoy tratando de deconstruir un poco el género de los superhéroes mientras lo coloco en el debate nacional en curso sobre el poder y el privilegio. Espero que les guste. Pero si no lo hace, culpe al Departamento de Vehículos Motorizados".

When Jess finally receives the long-awaited organ transplant that she desperately needs to live, she believes all her troubles are behind her. That is until she starts developing some interesting side effects from the transplant—a newfound set of fantastical abilities and superpowers. When she discovers that everyone else who received organs from this donor is also experiencing the same thing, they must all figure out who this donor was, and decide what to do with the powers—use them for good, evil, or simply ignore them altogether. "When I checked the box on my license renewal, consenting to be an organ donor, I thought, 'I feel bad for the poor sap who gets my very near-sighted eyes.'
