Únete al escritor David Avallone (Elvira Meets Vincent Price, Bettie Page: Unbound) y a la artista Silvia Califano en un cómic que no deberías enseñarle a tu madre (a veces se vuelve un poco loca). Recopila Elvira in Horrorland n.º 1-5, incluyendo una galería completa de portadas.

Trama

Elvira luego de resolver el caso con Vincent Price es enviada a un universo de bolsillo donde revive una serie de películas clásicas de terror en diferentes épocas del cine, comenzando por Psicosis de Alfred Hitchcock, El Resplandor de Stanley Kubrick, Alien de Ridley Scott, Pesadilla en  la Calle del Infierno (Freddy Krueger) de Wes Craven y la Mosca de David Cronenberg, claro está hacen referencia a estas películas pero no usan los mismos nombres, pero es evidente que hablan de ellas. 

Estas aventuras peligrosas que están poniendo en peligro la realidad por lo que aparece una agencia llamada la W.O.W encargada de controlar todas esas actividades que ponen en riesgo la realidad.

Elvira rompe la cuarta pared en cada pagina con chistes inteligentes y agudos, donde las referencias brillantes a la cultura pop les hara reir sin parar. 

Este volumen cierra con la promesa del regreso de Elvira pero ahora a Monsterland.

Arte

Silvia de nuevo atrapa el tono y detalles de cada una de las películas clásicas de terror que hacen referencia/tributo, es un deleite visual sus capacidades de adaptación, tanto de espacios como de los personajes, aparte de siempre resaltar la sensualidad y picardía de Elvira.

Resumen

Elvira pone a prueba sus conocimientos de películas de terror  para poder salvarse ya que las está viviendo en carne propia.

Excelente punto de partida de una serie inteligente llena de cultura pop

Join writer David Avallone (Elvira Meets Vincent Price, Bettie Page: Unbound) and artist Silvia Califano for a comic you shouldn't show to mother (she just goes a little mad sometimes). Collects Elvira in Horrorland #1-5, including a complete cover gallery.

Plot

After solving the case with Vincent Price, Elvira is sent to a pocket universe where she relives a series of classic horror films from different eras of cinema, starting with Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Ridley Scott's Alien, Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (Freddy Krueger), and David Cronenberg's The Fly. Of course, they reference these films, but don't use the same titles; however, it's clear they are alluding to them.

These dangerous adventures are threatening reality, leading to the emergence of an agency called the W.O.W., tasked with controlling all these activities that put reality at risk.

Elvira breaks the fourth wall on every page with clever and sharp jokes, and her brilliant pop culture references will have you laughing non-stop.

This volume closes with the promise of Elvira's return, but this time to Monsterland.

Art

Silvia once again captures the tone and details of each of the classic horror films she references/pays tribute to. Her adaptability, both in terms of spaces and characters, is a visual delight, and she always highlights Elvira's sensuality and mischievousness.

Summary

Elvira puts her knowledge of horror films to the test in order to survive, as she is experiencing them firsthand. An excellent starting point for a smart series brimming with pop culture.

Trama

Elvira y H.P Lovecraft se entrevistan con Cthulhu, quien al final no le importa escapar de R'lyeh, ya está cansado de que los humanos se peleen por el Necronomicón, aunque H.P Lovecraft intenta convencer de que se lo de para abrir un portal para que Cthulhu gobierne la galaxia.

Cthulhu denomina a Elvira como la protectora del Necronomicon y le asigna a H.P Lovecraft una eternidad de limpiar el castillo de R'lyeh que siempre se llena de mucosidad y mugre.

Elvira regresa a su casa pero es asaltada por dos supuestos agentes del gobierno que en realidad son integrantes de la misteriosa Iglesia Sky Science, quienes le quitan el Necronomicon, ella los sigue y recupera el libro pero es trasladad al pasado...lugar donde la legendaria modelo Pinup Bettie Page es una agente secreta, la próxima aventura es un crossover entre estas dos poderosas féminas.

Interesante cierre donde dejan en descubierto la personalidad ambiciosa y pedante de H.P Lovecraft.

Kewer eleva la sensualidad y picardía de Elvira en cada uno de sus paneles y creando a la vez una atmósfera de misterio y terror impactantes usando con éxito el universo de seres de HP Lovecraft pero manteniendo la comedia irreverente de Elvira  mediante el lenguaje corporal.

Elvira vs HP Lovecraft, él no vio venir el golpe en la entrepierna.

Where it comes from?

It's Elvira versus Lovecraft in the final showdown between the Mistress of the Dark and the Master of Cosmic Horror. Will Earth succumb to the Great Old Ones? Plot

Elvira and H.P Lovecraft meet with Cthulhu, who in the end does not mind escaping from R'lyeh, he is already tired of humans fighting over the Necronomicon, although H.P Lovecraft tries to convince him to give it to him to open a portal so that Cthulhu rules the galaxy.

Cthulhu names Elvira the protector of the Necronomicon and assigns H.P Lovecraft an eternity of cleaning the castle of R'lyeh that is always filled with mucus and grime.

Elvira returns home but is assaulted by two supposed government agents who are actually members of the mysterious Sky Science Church, who take the Necronomicon from her. She follows them and recovers the book but is transported to the past... a place where the Legendary Pinup model Bettie Page is a secret agent, the next adventure is a crossover between these two powerful women.

Interesting closing where they reveal the ambitious and pedantic personality of H.P Lovecraft.

Art

Kewer elevates Elvira's sensuality and mischief in each of her panels and at the same time creates an atmosphere of shocking mystery and terror by successfully using HP Lovecraft's universe of beings but maintaining Elvira's irreverent comedy through body language.

Summary

Elvira vs HP Lovecraft, he didn't see the crotch punch coming.

Great ending to this adventure.

Trama

Elvira llega a Dreamland con el Necronomicon, escapando del plan de H.P Lovecraft de convertirse en u dios,.

En Dreamland Elvira se encuentra con una serie de seres misteriosos que la llevan con el hechicero Bob Bloch(Psicosis), que en nuestro mundo fue un aclamado escritor de terror y ciencia ficción y pupilo de HP Lovecraft. Bob le dice que para solucionar este problema cósmico, ella debe entregar el libro a este dios que se lo piso a Lovecraft.

Justamente cuando Elvira va a entregar el libro, llega H.P Lovecraft, para enterarse que deberán ser juzgados por el propio Cthulhu.

Este capítulo tiene muchos diálogos, por lo que van a reír mucho por la cantidad de chistes y juegos de palabras de Elvira.

Plot

Elvira arrives in Dreamland with the Necronomicon, escaping H.P Lovecraft's plan to become a god.

In Dreamland Elvira encounters a series of mysterious beings who take her to the sorcerer Bob Bloch (Psycho), who in our world was an acclaimed horror and science fiction writer and pupil of HP Lovecraft. Bob tells her that to solve this cosmic problem, she must give the book to this god who passed it on to Lovecraft.

Just when Elvira is going to deliver the book, H.P Lovecraft arrives, to learn that they must be judged by Cthulhu himself.

This chapter has a lot of dialogue, so you are going to laugh a lot because of the amount of jokes and puns Elvira makes.

Trama

Elvira y el fantasma de H.P Lovecraft, llegan a la mansión de October Grendel, quien según H.P. tomó sus manuscritos y le saco ganacias desde hace décadas, esta persona tiene el original del Necronomicon, Elvira y Lovecratf intentan convencerlo de que se lo presten para detener a quien ha estado detrás del libro, el terrible demonio NYARLATHOTEP.

Elvira está molesta con HP Lovecraft porque había ocultado información, ella presiente que está siendo manipulada, Grendel les da el libro y HP logra hacer un hechizo y atrapa a NYARLATHOTEP en el el Necronomicon.

Pero en realidad HP Lovecraft lo que quiere es convertirse en un dios y controlar el mundo con este libro, pero Elvira es más rápida y escapa hacia el portal hacia Dreamland, que aunque parezca un lugar hermoso tiene una fauna espeluznante.

Excellence entrega con un giro en la trama, donde Elvira no pierda la oportunidad de decir chistes de doble sentido y muchas referencias Lovecraftianas.

Plot

Elvira and the ghost of H.P Lovecraft arrive at the mansion of October Grendel, who according to H.P. He took his manuscripts and made profits from him for decades. This person has the original of the Necronomicon. Elvira and Lovecrat try to convince him to lend it to them to stop whoever has been behind the book, the terrible demon NYARLATHOTEP.

Elvira is upset with HP Lovecraft because she had hidden information, she senses that she is being manipulated, Grendel gives them the book and HP manages to cast a spell and traps NYARLATHOTEP in the Necronomicon.

But in reality what HP Lovecraft wants is to become a god and control the world with this book, but Elvira is faster and escapes towards the portal to Dreamland, which although it seems like a beautiful place has a creepy fauna.

Excellence delivers with a plot twist, where Elvira doesn't miss the opportunity to tell double meaning jokes and lots of Lovecraftian references.

Trama

Elvira y el fantasma de H.P Lovecraft, llegan a la librería de la Universidad de Miskatonic en  Massachusetts donde Lovecarft dio clases y sabe de su existencia de una copia original del Necronomicon, que necesita recuperar para detener a quien desea abrir las puertas de la prisión de R'Lyeh y liberar al demonio monstruo Cthulhu.

En este lugar se consiguen con la misteriosa bibliotecaria Allison Peaslee quien resulta ser la descendiente de Whateley y ahora es una bruja que necesita usar el  Necronomicon para traer de vuelta a Yog Sothoth, pero Lovecraft no puede usar el libro para ayudarla porque es falso.

Elvira le entrega el libro a los torpes integrantes del culto Sons of Nyarlathotep.

Howard Philips Lovecraft sabe quien puede tener el original del Necronomicon, el misterioso October Grendel.

Esta entrega está llena de juegos de palabras y chistes con referencias a la cultura pop y a la literatura de Lovecraft, pero no revela mucho aún de quién está detrás del complot de traer a Cthulhu.

Elvira, the late night host of horror films in the 1980s and 1990s incarnated Cassandra Peterson, returns with her adventures in a comic book format. Elvira is a voluptuous and funny woman who loves the horror genre and the gothic look, her film Elvira Mistress of the Dark of the year 1988 is of cult movie. Its main characteristic it's her acute sense of humor / self-conscious and that frequently breaks the fourth wall. This comic highlight all these qualities.

Where it comes from?

The comedy duo of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and Howard Phillips, Neurotic Ghost, take their show on the road to Arkham, Massachusetts! With the Cult of Nyarlathotep hot on their pointy heels, the two horror icons visit storied Miskatonic University - where the last copy of the Necronomicon may be hidden deep in the college library!

Secret knowledge is uncovered, hideous space gods are revealed, and late fines go unpaid in this madcap monster mash from writer DAVID AVALLONE (Elvira in Monsterland, Bettie Page: Unbound) and artist KEWBER BAAL (Elvira in Monsterland, Vampirella), with cover artists BAAL, DAVE ACOSTA, and DAVID HACK all returning from the grave, as well as a enchanting Elvira photo cover

Plot

Elvira and the ghost of H.P Lovecraft arrive at the Miskatonic University bookstore in Massachusetts where Lovecarft taught and knows of the existence of an original copy of the Necronomicon, which she needs to recover to stop whoever wants to open the doors of the prison of R'Lyeh and free the monster demon Cthulhu.

In this place they meet the mysterious librarian Allison Peaslee who turns out to be the descendant of Whateley and is now a witch who needs to use the Necronomicon to bring back Yog Sothoth, but Lovecraft cannot use the book to help her because it is false.

Elvira gives the book to the clumsy members of the Sons of Nyarlathotep cult.

Howard Philips Lovecraft knows who may have the original of the Necronomicon, the mysterious October Grendel.

This installment is full of puns and jokes with references to pop culture and Lovecraft's literature, but it doesn't reveal much yet about who is behind the plot to bring Cthulhu.

Art

Kewer elevates Elvira's sensuality and mischief in each of her panels and at the same time creates an atmosphere of shocking mystery and terror by successfully using HP Lovecraft's universe of beings but maintaining Elvira's irreverent comedy through body language.

Summary

Elvira and HP Lovecraft are on the trail to obtain the original Necronomicon, but this book is coveted by all those who play with black magic.

Trama

Elvira tiene un sueño emocionante y casi húmedo con un hombre lobo vestido de Elvis, donde ella confiesa que siempre le ha gustado los hombres con pelos en el pecho , pero es interrumpida por el fantasma de H.P Lovecraft, quien le pide ayuda para detener una amenaza cósmica.

Howard Philips Lovecraft fue el prolífico escritor que creó el género literario llamado "Terror Cósmico", en este cómic le pide ayuda a Elvira debido a que ella tiene una amplia experiencia luchando contra seres demoníacos.

Al parecer HP Lovecraft cuando murió cayó en un abismo sin fondo y uno de los Elder Gods le ofreció una opción para salir de esta penitencia eterna, consiste en detener una fuerza malvada que va a usar el libro de los muertos Necronomicon para abrir las puertas de la prisión de R'Lyeh y liberar al demonio monstruo Cthulhu.

Elvira lleva a HP Lovecraft a donde está una posible copia del Necromicon, pero en realidad fue una trampa para que otros dieran con el libro y ahora el terrible mal está por desatarse.

Como nos tiene acostumbrado David Avallone, este cómic incluye diálogos hilarantes llenos de comentarios autoconscientes que rompen la cuarta pared y juegos de palabras brillantes, es una comedia inteligente y perspicaz. Es genial ver como Elvira juzga el conocido racismo que caracteriza a este escritor.

Arte

Kewer eleva la sensualidad y picardía de Elvira en cada uno de sus paneles y creando a la vez una atmósfera de misterio y terror impactantes usando con éxito el universo de seres de HP Lovecraft pero manteniendo la comedia irreverente de Elvira  mediante el lenguaje corporal.

Resumen
HP Lovecraft le pide ayuda a Elvira gracias a la reputación que la precede, pero no está preparado para lidiar con el encanto único y pícaro de la Señora de la Oscuridad

Plot

Elvira has an exciting and almost wet dream about a werewolf dressed as Elvis, where she confesses that she has always liked men with hair on their chest 😂, but is interrupted by the ghost of H.P Lovecraft, who asks her for help to stop a cosmic threat.

Howard Philips Lovecraft is the late prolific writer who created the literary genre called "Cosmic Horror", in this comic he asks Elvira for help because she has extensive experience fighting demonic beings.

Apparently HP Lovecraft when he died fell into a bottomless abyss and one of the Elder Gods offered him an option to get out of this eternal penance, it consists of stopping an evil force that is going to use the Necronomicon book of the dead to open the doors of the prison of R'Lyeh and free the demon monster Cthulhu.

Elvira takes HP Lovecraft to where a possible copy of the Necromicon is, but in reality it was a trap for others to find the book and now the terrible evil is about to be unleashed.

As David Avallone has accustomed us to, this comic features hilarious dialogue filled with self-aware, fourth-wall-breaking commentary and brilliant way to play on words, it's indeed a smart and insightful comedy. It's great to see how Elvira judges with jokes the well-known racism that characterizes this writer.

Art

Kewer elevates Elvira's sensuality and mischief in each of her panels and at the same time creates an atmosphere of shocking mystery and terror by successfully using HP Lovecraft's universe of beings but maintaining Elvira's irreverent comedy through body language.

Summary

HP Lovecraft asks Elvira for help thanks to her reputation that precedes her, but he is not prepared to deal with the unique and mischievous charm of the Mistress of The Dark
