Únete al escritor David Avallone (Elvira Meets Vincent Price, Bettie Page: Unbound) y a la artista Silvia Califano en un cómic que no deberías enseñarle a tu madre (a veces se vuelve un poco loca). Recopila Elvira in Horrorland n.º 1-5, incluyendo una galería completa de portadas.

Trama

Elvira luego de resolver el caso con Vincent Price es enviada a un universo de bolsillo donde revive una serie de películas clásicas de terror en diferentes épocas del cine, comenzando por Psicosis de Alfred Hitchcock, El Resplandor de Stanley Kubrick, Alien de Ridley Scott, Pesadilla en  la Calle del Infierno (Freddy Krueger) de Wes Craven y la Mosca de David Cronenberg, claro está hacen referencia a estas películas pero no usan los mismos nombres, pero es evidente que hablan de ellas. 

Estas aventuras peligrosas que están poniendo en peligro la realidad por lo que aparece una agencia llamada la W.O.W encargada de controlar todas esas actividades que ponen en riesgo la realidad.

Elvira rompe la cuarta pared en cada pagina con chistes inteligentes y agudos, donde las referencias brillantes a la cultura pop les hara reir sin parar. 

Este volumen cierra con la promesa del regreso de Elvira pero ahora a Monsterland.

Arte

Silvia de nuevo atrapa el tono y detalles de cada una de las películas clásicas de terror que hacen referencia/tributo, es un deleite visual sus capacidades de adaptación, tanto de espacios como de los personajes, aparte de siempre resaltar la sensualidad y picardía de Elvira.

Resumen

Elvira pone a prueba sus conocimientos de películas de terror  para poder salvarse ya que las está viviendo en carne propia.

Excelente punto de partida de una serie inteligente llena de cultura pop

Elvira, the late night host of horror films in the 1980s and 1990s incarnated Cassandra Peterson, returns with her adventures in a comic book format. Elvira is a voluptuous and funny woman who loves the horror genre and the gothic look, her film Elvira Mistress of the Dark of the year 1988 is of cult movie. Its main characteristic it's her acute sense of humor / self-conscious and that frequently breaks the fourth wall. This comic highlight all these qualities.

The Mistress of the Dark has discovered that films create their own pocket dimensions, and now she's lost in the Multiverse of Movies! Will she find her way home, or is it just a big Hitchcock-tease?

Join writer David Avallone (Elvira Meets Vincent Price, Bettie Page: Unbound) and artist Silvia Califano for a comic you shouldn't show to mother (she just goes a little mad sometimes). Collects Elvira in Horrorland #1-5, including a complete cover gallery.

Plot

After solving the case with Vincent Price, Elvira is sent to a pocket universe where she relives a series of classic horror films from different eras of cinema, starting with Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, Ridley Scott's Alien, Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (Freddy Krueger), and David Cronenberg's The Fly. Of course, they reference these films, but don't use the same titles; however, it's clear they are alluding to them.

These dangerous adventures are threatening reality, leading to the emergence of an agency called the W.O.W., tasked with controlling all these activities that put reality at risk.

Elvira breaks the fourth wall on every page with clever and sharp jokes, and her brilliant pop culture references will have you laughing non-stop.

This volume closes with the promise of Elvira's return, but this time to Monsterland.

Art

Silvia once again captures the tone and details of each of the classic horror films she references/pays tribute to. Her adaptability, both in terms of spaces and characters, is a visual delight, and she always highlights Elvira's sensuality and mischievousness.

Summary

Elvira puts her knowledge of horror films to the test in order to survive, as she is experiencing them firsthand. An excellent starting point for a smart series brimming with pop culture.
