ENTREVISTA EXCLUSIVA CON EL GRAN ARTISTA RON GARNEY

Es nuestro placer presentarles la entrevista exclusiva que tuvimos con el gran artista Ron Garney, quien amablemente dispuso tiempo de su apretada agenda.

Ron Garney es un conocido ilustrador y escritor de cómics de origen Canadiense, que tiene más de veinte años años de experiencia en el medio, ha trabajado con los grandes de la industria del cómic, con títulos como  Liga de la Justicia de América,The Amazing Spider-Man (Civil War), Ghost Rider , Wolverine, Weapon X,  X-Men, Silver Surfer, Capitan America y Hulk (las dos últimas también hizo de escritor), aparte de hacer el diseño de vestuario de filmes tales como Soy Leyenda y el Aprendiz del Mago, actualmente está encargado de Daredevil de Marvel Comics con el escritor Charles Soule.

A continuación le presentamos la entrevista traducida, para luego mostrarla en idioma original:

1.- ¿Quién te introdujo en el mundo del cómic?, ¿Un amigo?, ¿Un familiar?

Empecé a leer cuando era joven y les redescubrí en la universidad trabajando como barman.

2. - Cuando dibujaste Hombre Araña: Guerra Civil pensaste que tu trabajo sería utilizado en una película (Capitán América Guerra Civil)? Porque en tu cómic exploró profundamente cómo Spidey participó en la guerra.

Ciertamente no - quiero decir, que siempre hay la posibilidad de que algo sea usado - mi arte en la historia  "Perros Guerra" que hice (con Paul Jenkins ) se utilizó en la primera película de Hulk de Ang Lee.

3.- En diciembre salió Daredevil ilustrada por ti y escrita por Charles Soule, ¿puedes decir que tendrá de diferente esta serie de las demás? 

Hmm, estoy tratando de llegar con una óptica noir (oscuro) que es familiar al personaje pero quie se va a destacar por sí misma - y trabajando conjuntamente con Matt Milla, siento que definitivamente hemos logrado algo único.

4. - Con Daredevil que has mostrado este tono "noir", que es nuevo comparado con tus trabajos anteriores, ¿te sientes cómodo haciéndolo?

Claro -- de otra manera no lo estaría haciendo . Para ser sincero ya había estado experimentando con esta expresión artística en mi obra independiente "Men's of Wrath" (con Jason Aaron), así que ya estaba trabajando de lleno en esta nueva apariencia para mis trazos.

5.- ¿Estás interesado en hacer un "creator owned" ? ¿O tal vez un Kickstarter sobre cómics? 

Los hombres de la Ira (Mens of Wrath) es mi propiedad como creador independiente (creator owned) con Jason, que salió el año pasado, está en mi respuesta anterior.

6.- ¿Cuándo va a escribir y dibujar un cómic (Capitán América Centinela de la Libertad, Hulk) de nuevo? ¿Es muy difícil hacerlo para un cómic mensual?

 Yo lo deseo, será para otro proyecto "creator owned" que aún no se ha anunciado.

7. - ¿Ha trabajado hasta ahora con los mejores escritores de la industria, como Straczynski, Jenkins, Aaron, etc., ¿con qué otro escritor que siempre quiso trabajar? 

Esa es una pregunta difícil de responder, hay muchos de ellos y he tenido el privilegio de trabajar con los mejores así que no puedo quejarme. Tal vez Mark Millar - Me hubiera gustado trabajar con Frank Miller en algo distinto de lo que él ha hecho, algo nuevo, tal vez.

8. - ¿Cuántas horas al día es lo que inviertes ilustrando?

Un montón. pero no menos de ocho horas - lol (muchas risas).

9.- ¿Cómo es tu proceso creativo típico? 

Visualizar lo que vas a hacer en primer lugar - a continuación, intentar sacarlo de tu cerebro de la mejor manera posible  y canalizarlo hacia tus manos sobre el papel, pero al mismo tiempo, dejar que la obra se dibuje sola. Se necesitan años de experiencia para hacerlo y siempre es una aventura.

10.- Eres un exitoso dibujante de cómics, entintador y escritor, ¿qué otros proyectos está en tu futuro que deseas cumplir? 

Me gustaría trabajar en televisión y películas dirigiendo como o asistente de director -- Soy también músico y si tuviera la oportunidad amaría hacer música de estudio en su mayor parte como un hobby , un hombre todavía puede soñar, ¿cierto? ;)

1.- Who introduced you in the world of comics? A friend? A relative?

--I started reading when I was young and rediscovered them out of college working as a bartender.

2. – When you draw “Civil War Spider-man” did you thought that your work will be used in a movie (Captain America Civil War)? Because in your comic, you did explore deep how spidey was involved in the war  

No certainly not--I mean there's always the possibility that something will get used--my art and the "Dogs of War" story I did (with paul jenkins) on the hulk was used in the first hulk movie with Ang Lee

3.- In December will come out Daredevil by you and Charles Soule, can you say what will make this run different from others?

Hmm Im trying to come up with a noir look that feels familiar for the character yet stands out on its own--working together with Matt Milla, I feel we've definitely come up with something unique.

4. – With Daredevil’s art you have shown a “noir” tone, new comparing with your previous work , are you comfortable with it? 

Sure-- or I wouldn't be doing it. Truth be told though I had been experimenting with this look on my creator owned "men of wrath" (with Jason Aaron) so I was already full into working with this new look for my pencils.

5.- Are you interested in doing a “creator owned” book? Or maybe aKickstarter about comics? 

See above!--Men of Wrath my creator owned with Jason,  came out last year

6.- When will you write and draw a comic book (Captain America Sentinel of Liberty, Hulk)? Is it too difficult for a monthly title?

--I will but it will be another creator owned as yet to be announced.

7. - Have you worked so far with the best writers in the industry, like Straczynski, Jenkins, Aaron, etc., with which another writer you always wanted to work? 

Thats a tough one to say theres many of them and Ive had the privilege of working with the best so I cant complain. Maybe Mark Millar--I would've loved to work with Frank Miller on something other than what he's already known for, something new perhaps.

8. - How many hours a day do you invest illustrating? 

Lots. but no less than eight hours--lol

9.- How is your typical process of creation? 

visualize what you're going to do first--then start trying the best you can to get it out of your brain and channel it thought your hands onto the paper, but at the same time letting the work draw itself. It takes years of experience to do it and its always an adventure.

10.- You're a successful comic book artist, inker and writer, what other project is in your future that you crave to do? 

Id like to work in television and movies doing directing or assistant directing --Im also a musician and love to make studio music as a hobby for the most part but if Id had the chance, a man can still dream cant he? ;)
