Ambientada en 1996, el Año de la Rata y el pico de la epidemia de VIH/SIDA, una trabajadora social chino-estadounidense idealista se convierte en detective cuando descubre que mujeres jóvenes LGBTQ+ sin hogar están siendo asesinadas y a nadie, especialmente a la policía, parece importarle.
 
Una serie de pistas la llevan a Carmilla's, un nuevo y misterioso club nocturno en el corazón del barrio chino de Manhattan. Allí se enamora de Violet, el próximo objetivo probable, y la lleva al centro de una historia de terror de la vida real, y se enfrenta cara a cara con preguntas sobre su propia identidad y su turbio pasado.

There she falls for Violet, the next likely target, landing her at the center of a real-life horror story—and face-to-face with questions about her own identity and murky past.
