It begins with the discovery of a portal to another world eighteen months prior, then jumps to the present and introduces Leo Blackwood, a high school student in love with Ophelia West.
Ophelia loves fantasy literature, and Leo greatly appreciates her taste because he reveals to her that he is the crown prince of a medieval world and has been infiltrating for eighteen months to gather information on military bases and technology to launch an invasion in the name of the kingdom of Bracog Tide. Ophelia runs away in fear.
The next day, the invasion begins. They create a nationwide blackout in the U.S. and launch attacks on major cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., using dragons to disable the air force and kidnap the U.S. president, Roger Thorne.
Leo's father arrives: King Wulfrich, who leads this invasion with the utmost barbarity. He imprisons women to force them into prostitution and murders men with limited physical capabilities to begin training those fit for his army.
Leo introduces Ophelia to his father, brother Horatio, and uncle Cyrus (the kingdom's oracle). Ophelia is overwhelmed by what she witnesses.
The fight sequences are breathtaking and dizzying, a clash of technology versus fantasy.
King Wulfrich confronts President Thorne with magical fire swords that pierce steel, culminating in a humiliating and brutal public execution. These swords are a medieval/magical version of a Star Wars lightsaber. Wulfrich calls himself the Iron King and is utterly despotic. The only representative of the US government is Colonel John O'Neill, who lost the election to Thorne.
The only thing the Kingdom of Bracog Tide needs to complete its invasion is to activate the mysterious HEXAGEDRON device.
Meanwhile, President Thorne's daughter, Amanda Thorne, escapes with the help of Agent Jimmy Gray.
This first volume features a fast-paced narrative with no filler; every page is key and packed with information. It's impossible to put down once you start. Suspense, terror, and medieval battles unlike anything you've ever seen.
