Dark Horse Comics es ahora la nueva editorial de Millarworld/Netflix, por lo que se va a dedicar a reeditar todas las impactantes novelas gráficas de la mente de Mark Millar.

Esta edición especial LIBRARY EDITION exclusiva de Dark Horse Books, que posee un tamaño mayor al formato normal e incluye como material extra todas las portadas alternas así como los sketches iniciales de los personajes, esta novela gráfica propiedad de Netflix tendrá a Sandra Bullock como productora y posiblemente protagonista mientras que Chris Mckay (Lego Batman La Película) será el director. Este es otro proyecto de Bullock con Netflix después del hit Bird Box. También producirán Roy Lee y Miri Yoon con Millar y Capullo como productores ejecutivos y Samantha Nisenboim como co-productora.

Sinopsis

Mark Millar, el maestro narrador de Kick-Ass y Kingsman, se une al venerado artista de Batman, Greg Capullo, en una aventura épica superventas.

Bonnie Black no tiene fe en la otra vida. Pasa sus últimos días en la sala de infartos de un hospital del condado, temiendo quedarse dormida por si no despierta. Cuando un último infarto acaba con su vida, Bonnie renace en Adystria, un mundo de ciencia ficción y fantasía enfrascado en una feroz batalla entre el bien y el mal. Tiene veinticinco años de nuevo, empuña una espada y está lista para luchar. Se encuentra con su padre, Tom, y con el perro de su infancia en este extraño mundo nuevo, pero no hay rastro de Harry, su marido, asesinado hace más de diez años. Con la ayuda de su padre y su fiel mascota, Bonnie emprende una épica búsqueda para reencontrarse con el amor perdido de su vida. Pero no solo su familia la ha estado esperando. Su llegada ha sido profetizada, y un terrible mal acecha. Un mal que no se detendrá ante nada para destruirla. Un mal que solo se sacia con sangre.

Trama 

Cuando la septuagenaria Bonnie Black, quien en su avanzada edad se siente sola y con miedo de morir, debido a que su esposo Harry fue cruelmente asesinado en un ataque de un francotirador hace 14 años, así como todas las persona más cercanas de su vida fallecieron de manera imprevista, su padre en un accidente laboral y su madre con un infarto fulminante, al parecer todos estos acontecimientos no son una coincidencia.

De manera repentina Bonnie sufre un ataque y fallece viendo una cegadora luz blanca, luego de una serie de recuerdos de toda su vida, despierta con su cuerpo de 22 años, vestida de blanco en medio de una batalla campal donde hay todo tipo de criaturas extrañas con hachas, espadas y escudos, al mismo tiempo aparecen artefactos futuristas.

Bonnie totalmente abrumada descubre que su padre, mucho más joven también, la rescata, y al parecer este mundo en guerra estaba esperando por su llegada. La guerra entre  Adystria, lugar donde renacen las buenas personas, con Dark Lands, tierras oscuras, lugar donde renacen las malas personas,  es brutal y el líder de Dark Lands, Lord Golgotha esta ganando.

Bonnie quiere encontrarse con Harry, por lo que emprende una aventura con su padre y su perro de la infancia en esta tierras misteriosas y letales, donde su presencia en este lugar es parte de un plan macabro.

La trama de Mark Millar es compleja e intensa, pero narrada de una manera simple y directa, la primera lectura de esta cómic te deja sin aliento y la necesidad de re-leerlo debido a la cantidad de detalles que necesitan ser tomados en cuenta, cada detalle tiene un trasfondo que adorna con fantasía y ciencia ficción distópica esta historia sobre el duelo, la segundas oportunidades y la esperanza de la vida después de la muerte

Arte 

El arte de Greg Capullo es sumamente detallista, observar su trabajo es un deleite visual, posee un rango de ilustración amplio, que lo ha demostrado en todos sus trabajos anteriores pero en este proyecto se supera a sí mismo, es preciso acotar que la colaboración de Jonathan Glapion (tintas) y Francisco Plascencia (colores) hacen de este trabajo un obra de arte espectacular, forman un gran equipo.

This special LIBRARY EDITION, exclusive of Dark Horse Books, is larger than the standard format and includes all the variant covers and initial character sketches as bonus material. This graphic novel, owned by Netflix, will have Sandra Bullock as producer and possibly star, while Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) will direct. This is another project for Bullock with Netflix after the hit Bird Box. Synopsis

When a final stroke ends her life, Bonnie is reborn in Adystria--a sci-fi, fantasy world that's locked in a raging battle between good and evil. She's twenty-five again, there's a sword in her hand and she's ready to fight. She meets her dad, Tom, and her childhood dog in this strange new world, but there is no sign of Harry--her husband who was murdered over ten years before. Plot

When septuagenarian Bonnie Black, who in her advanced age feels alone and afraid of dying because her husband Harry was brutally murdered in a sniper attack 14 years ago, and all the people closest to her died unexpectedly—her father in a work accident and her mother from a sudden heart attack—it seems all these events are not a coincidence.

Suddenly, Bonnie suffers a seizure and dies, seeing a blinding white light. After a series of flashbacks, she awakens in her 22-year-old body, dressed in white, in the middle of a pitched battle with all kinds of strange creatures wielding axes, swords, and shields. At the same time, futuristic artifacts appear.

Completely overwhelmed, Bonnie discovers that her father, much younger himself, rescues her, and it seems this war-torn world was waiting for his arrival. The war between Adystria, where good people are reborn, and the Dark Lands, where evil people are reborn, is brutal, and the leader of the Dark Lands, Lord Golgotha, is winning.

Bonnie wants to find Harry, so she embarks on an adventure with her father and her childhood dog in these mysterious and deadly lands, where her presence is part of a macabre plan.

Mark Millar's plot is complex and intense, yet narrated in a simple and direct way. The first reading of this comic leaves you breathless and wanting to reread it due to the sheer number of details that need to be taken into account. Each detail has a backstory that embellishes this tale of grief, second chances, and the hope of life after death with fantasy and dystopian science fiction.

Art

Greg Capullo's art is incredibly detailed; observing his work is a visual delight. He possesses a wide range of illustration skills, which he has demonstrated in all his previous works, but in this project he surpasses himself. It's worth noting that the collaboration of Jonathan Glapion (inks) and Francisco Plascencia (colors) makes this work a spectacular piece of art; they make a great team.
