New villains, hints of romance, and the overarching mystery behind her permanent dimension hop has made writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Paolo Villanelli’s SPIDER-GWEN: THE GHOST-SPIDER one of the hottest launches of the year. This March, the series continues to go where no Gwen Stacy has gone before in a new arc titled “Ghost-Spider Beyond!”

 

Kicking off in SPIDER-GWEN: THE GHOST-SPIDER #11, the thrilling saga sees Gwen take off on grand quest into the Marvel cosmos! There, she’ll come across unimaginable power and the only thing stopping her from using it to fix all her life’s problems is Loki! During the storyline, Gwen will debut a new space suit designed by SPIDER-GWEN: THE GHOST-SPIDER’s superstar cover artist Mark Brooks.

Gwen has something King Loki wants, and she’ll do everything in her power to keep it from him. The god of lies and deception knows his strength lies in words over brute force, so he intends to convince Gwen to give up the artifact willingly. "I envisioned a Gwen and Loki storyline from the beginning of my work on Gwen, so this arc feels like the culmination of everything we’ve been building toward,” Phillips shared. “Taking Gwen to space has allowed us to explore some unexpected elements of her character, especially as her optimism and hope clashes with King Loki's nihilism. This May, after multiple hit solo series and appearances across both the big and small screen, she’s ready to relocate to the 616 for good in her latest ongoing series, SPIDER-GWEN: THE GHOST-SPIDER!

 

This exciting new era for the character will be penned by rising star writer Stephanie Phillips (Capwolf & the Howling Commandos) and drawn by newcomer Federica Mancin, last year’s Marvel Art Atelier Challenge winner who made her acclaimed debut in Miles Morales: Spider-Man.

 

Today, fans can see two new variant covers for the SPIDER-GWEN: THE GHOST-SPIDER #1. Drawn by two of today’s hottest cover artists, Jenny Frison and Pablo Villalobos, both pieces strikingly capture Ghost-Spider’s iconic look and captivating allure, and will also come available as virgin covers.

 

Hailing from an alternate Earth where the fateful radioactive Spider bit Gwen instead of Peter Parker, Ghost-Spider has had wild adventures in both her home dimension and the main Marvel Universe. "Right after I started working on this new Spider-Gwen ongoing, I saw a little girl on Halloween dressed as Gwen and hitting some cool Spidey poses,” Phillips shared. “It was kind of a surreal moment to realize that I get to be a part of Gwen's next big chapter, bringing her into the 616 and giving readers stories that make us rethink who Gwen is and what her role is within this new universe.”
