Ghost Machine Productions lanza GEIGER en un nuevo volumen, del escritor Geoff Johns, el artista Gary Frank y el colorista Brad Anderson. Esta serie de cómics tendrá frecuencia mensual y forma parte de la primera ola de cómics de Ghost Machine Productions. La serie sigue las aventuras de Tariq Geiger, el misterioso Hombre Resplandeciente presentado por primera vez en la exitosa serie GEIGER Vol 1 de Johns y Frank, que se lanzó en 2021 y fue publicada por Image Comics. GEIGER también se está desarrollando para televisión en Paramount TV con Justin Simien como director.

Tariq Geiger ha sido capturado, despojado de sus poderes y arrojado a una sociedad retorcida dentro de una penitenciaría de alta seguridad conocida simplemente como Los Prisioneros. Sin aliados. Sin escapatoria. Sin tiempo. Condenado a muerte en su brutal sistema, la pregunta no es si Geiger podrá sobrevivir... sino si realmente podrá.

Trama

Tariq es atacado en su celda por su compañero, quien cree que trabaja para el temible Goldbeard que guardo un tesoro en esa carcel de Cold Water, que el líder Wren está desesperado por conseguir. Geiger desarma al reo con facilidad y uno de los guardias lo asesina y culpa a Geiger.

Geiger es torturado en la silla eléctrica, interrogándolo sobre la ubicación del tesoro de Goldbeard y culpando del asesinato al reo. Wren supervisa esta tortura, pero la electricidad recarga las células de Tariq y se convierte de nuevo en GEIGER el Hombre Incandescente y empieza a asesinar a todos.

Mientras esto ocurre, los secuaces de Goldbeard se escabullen y consiguen el tesoro, que es un guante de béisbol con un dibujo del difunto hijo de Goldbeard, esto es un tesoro invaluable para un padre.

Geiger escapa de la cárcel y sus poderes están descontrolados, al parecer la posibilidad de que algun dia explote y cause otro apocalipsis es la principal razón por la cual el  presidente Griffin lo quiere.

Geiger cae en sus rodillas agotado cuando recibe en sus manos su barras de boro que controlan sus poderes del hocico de su gran compañero el perro de dos cabezas Barney.

Emocionante episodio donde siguen adentrándose en los traumas y pesares de esta guerra desconocida que solo dejó desolación y que el brillo de Geiger más que un peligro puede ser la luz de la esperanza la final del túnel.

Arte 

Este capítulo incluye el trabajo de los ilustradores Eduardo Pansica y Gary Frank. El primero quien ofrece un arte moderno, lleno de detalles y con un control de la anatomía de los personajes bien proporcionadas, que tiene un tono del género de superhéroe por sus poses pero al mismo tiempo ofrece una impronta original.

Frank  como es de costumbre logra el balance perfecto de un arte sumamente detallado y orgánico con colores claros que no esconde nada. Es hipnotizante cada panel de cada página, cada vez que la aprecias consigues nuevos e increíbles detalles.

La rotulación de Rob Leigh es una explosión de adrenalina onomatopéyica.

Resumen

Tariq es torturado por un crimen que no realizó y esto se puede convertir en el regreso de Geiger mientras revelan el verdadero tesoro de Goldbeard

What does it come from?

CAN GEIGER DIE?

Tariq Geiger has been captured, stripped of his powers, and thrown into a twisted society within a high-security penitentiary known only as the Prisoners. No allies. No escape. No more time. As he’s sentenced to death inside their brutal system, the question isn’t whether Geiger can survive…it’s whether he ever really could.

Plot

Tariq is attacked in his cell by his cellmate, who believes he works for the fearsome Goldbeard, who supposedly has a treasure hidden in Cold Water Prison that the leader, Wren, is desperate to obtain. Geiger easily disarms the prisoner, and one of the guards murders him and frames Geiger.

Geiger is tortured in the electric chair, interrogated about the location of Goldbeard's treasure and blamed for the murder. Wren oversees this torture, but the electricity recharges Tariq's cells, transforming him back into Geiger the Incandescent Man, and he begins killing everyone.

Meanwhile, Goldbeard's henchmen sneak out and retrieve the treasure: a baseball glove with a drawing of Goldbeard's deceased son—a priceless keepsake for a father.

Geiger is tortured in the electric chair, interrogated about the location of Goldbeard's treasure, and blamed for the murder. Geiger escapes from prison, his powers spiraling out of control. The possibility that he might one day explode and cause another apocalypse seems to be the main reason why President Griffin wants him.

Geiger collapses to his knees, exhausted, as he receives the boron rods that control his powers from the mouth of his great companion, the two-headed dog Barney.

This exciting episode delves deeper into the traumas and sorrows of this unknown war that has left only desolation in its wake. Geiger's brilliance, far from being a danger, may be the light of hope at the end of the tunnel.

Art
This episode features the work of illustrators Eduardo Pansica and Gary Frank. Pansica delivers modern art, full of detail and with a masterful control of the characters' well-proportioned anatomy. His poses evoke the superhero genre, yet he maintains an original style.

Frank, as usual, achieves the perfect balance of highly detailed and organic art with clear, uncluttered colors. Every panel on every page is mesmerizing; each time you look at it, you discover new and incredible details.

Rob Leigh's lettering is an onomatopoeic adrenaline rush.

Summary

Tariq is tortured for a crime he didn't commit, and this could lead to Geiger's return as they uncover Goldbeard's true treasure.
