ENTREVISTA EXCLUSIVA CON EL COLORISTA "MARCO LESKO"

Este brillante colorista tomó tiempo de su apretada agenda para respondernos unas preguntas de su nuevo proyecto OUT,  a continuación la entrevista traducida y luego en el idioma original:

1.- ¿Qué proyecto fue más desafiante de trabajar, Chariot o OUT?

Bueno, ambos tenían su propia peculiaridad y además ambos son un desafío para mí.

En Chariot tuve que crear una realidad no física e irreal y eso fue realmente difícil una vez tuve que imaginar toda esa realidad y transferir mi imaginación al cómic en colores.

OUT tuvo un tipo diferente de dificultad, porque involucra un período histórico de nuestra propia realidad como la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero crear algo creíble y también interesante y no estropear el futuro de la historia fue muy difícil.

Algunos de los ambientes orgánicos son muy difíciles de reproducir en un cómic, así que debo asegurarme de que no se vean falsos.

Paso a paso el proceso de dar colores a una página de CHARIOT

2.- ¿Cuántas horas al día inviertes en colorear cómics? ¿Cuánto tiempo te lleva colorear un cómic como OUT?

Bueno, mi vida honestamente son colorear cómics la mayoría de las horas del día, actualmente trabajo como 10 o incluso 14 horas al día. Depende del libro, de cuánta investigación tenga que hacer, o incluso si es el primer número o el último.

Si estoy trabajando en un primer número de una serie, que me costó más tiempo de investigación y pruebas, tengo que elegir la paleta, combinar el estilo de color con las tintas, entender el camino de la historia para saber qué tipo de storytelling yo usaré con los colores. Pero esto es exactamente lo que amo en este trabajo. A veces dejo el trabajo para ver alguna animación o una película para luego sumergirme en la serie.

Honestamente, sobre cuánto tiempo dedico a colorear un libro como OUT, no puedo decirte exactamente. Pero definitivamente puedo decirles más de 70 horas en cada edición.

3.- ¿Cuál es tu proceso creativo / de investigación para colorear cualquier cómic y este?

Mi inspiración siempre vino de las animaciones, me encantan los dibujos animados y las animaciones como Pixar, Dreamworks, Ghibli Studios y la mayor parte del anime japonés. Todas esas animaciones para mí cada vez que las veo es como una clase.

Luces, sombras, paleta de colores, narración y lo más importante las sensaciones de las escenas.

Entonces eso es lo que trato de poner en mis colores, trato de mirar en el dibujo y trato de entender cuál es ese sentimiento de la escena y todos los personajes, entonces trato de traducir eso en mis colores.

Entonces, para todo este universo histórico, investigué documentales, fotos históricas y también una gran ayuda de Rob. Él ya había investigado para escribir la historia, así que siguió de cerca las páginas coloreadas y me ayudó mucho.

Breve reseña biográfica de Marco Lesko

Marco Lesko es un colorista de cómics oriundo de Brasil, profesionalmente desde el 2013, uno de sus mentores fue Frank Martin Jr.. 

Comienza su carrera como colorista en Dynamite Comics con el cómic Twilight Zone en marzo de 2014. Después de eso, ha trabajado en muchos cómics como Rat Queens (2019), Doctor Who Ninth Doctor (2016), Doctor Who Seventh Doctor (2018), DEUS EX (2016), Peepland (2016), Assassin's Creed Uprising (2017), Torchwood (2016), Brilliant Trash (2017/18), Day of the Dead (2017), EVIL Heroes (2016/17), The Shadow (2015), Red Sonja (2015 número 15), Justice Inc . (2014), Justice Inc. The Avenger (2015), Robotech y mucho más. 

Actualmente tiene dos proyectos importantes con AWA, Chariot (cuyos derechos fueron adquiridos para ser adaptados en película), OUT y Casual Fling

INTERVIEW IN ENGLISH

1.- Which project was more challenging to work, Chariot or OUT?

Well, both had your own peculiarity and also both are challenge to me.

In Chariot I had to create a non physical and unreal reality and that was really difficult once I had to imagine all that reality and transfer my imagination to the book in colors.

Out had a different kind of dificult, cause was a Historical period of ower own reality WWII, but create something belieavable and also interesting and not spoil the future of the history was very dificult.

Some of organic ambience are very hard to replicate in a comic book, so I have to make sure they will not looks fake.

2.- How many hours a day do you invest in coloring cómics? How much time does it take you to color a comic like OUT?

Well,  my life honestly are coloring comics most hours of my day, I currently use to work like a 10 or even 14 hours a day. It depends of the book, how much research I have to do, or even if it is the first issue or the last issue.

If I am working in a first issue of a series, that toke more time of research and tests, I have to choose the pallete, combine the color style with the inks, understand the path of the history to know what kind of storytelling I'll use with the colors. But this is exactly what i love on this job. Sometimes I stop the work to watch some animation or movie to spire myself to the series.

Honestly about how much time i spend to coloring a book like OUT, i can't tell you exactly. But defenetely I can tell you more then 70 hours each issue.

3.- What is your creative/research process to color any cómic and this one?

My inspiration always came of animations, I love  cartoons and animations like Pixar, Dreamworks, Ghibli Studios and most of the Japanese Anime. All those animations to me every time I am watching is like a class.

Lights, shades, color pallet, storytelling and most important the feelings of the scenes.

So that's what I try to put on my colors, I try to look into the draw and try to understand what that feeling of the scene and all characters, so then I try to translate that into my colors.

So to all this historical universe, I researched documentaries, historical photos and also a great help of Rob. He had research by ourself to wrote the history, already, so he followed nearby the colored pages and helps me a lot.

EL DIRECTOR DE "TOP GUN MAVERICK" VA A DIRIGIR "CHARIOT" BASADO EN EL COMIC DE AWA

 

Warner Brothers ganó la opción por Chariot, cuyo director será Joseph Kosinski (director de Top Gun: Maverick) y será una adaptación de la novela gráfica publicada recientemente por Artists, Writers and Artisans (AWA) del mismo nombre.

El guión de la película estará a cargo de Julian Meiojas, cuyos créditos recientes incluyen a Jack Ryan y The Flash. Shawn Levy y Dan Cohen de 21 Laps están produciendo con Kosinski. Zach Studin de AWA es el productor ejecutivo.

Este es el primer proyecto fílmico de la recién fundada división de la rama de cine y televisión de AWA Studios.

Trama

Gillian entrena a Jim en este mundo etéreo cibernético, ella de repente siente la necesidad de tener compañía, y Jim llena este vacío.

Sin embargo la esposa de Jim no está de acuerdo con este proceso y Gillian acepta sin remordimientos lo que hace, porque ella va a usar a Jim para su propósito final.

Pero cuando son interceptados por el equipo de asalto de Delia, Jim demuestra lo aprendido en una secuencia de acción épica, ya está listo para ir con Gillian a buscar a su hijo.

Este comic es muy emotivo y vemos a Gillian vulnerable y más humana que nunca, dejando todo listo para capitulo final.

Priscilla Petraites se destaca con su arte logrando un amplio abanico de sentimientos en los personajes amor, odio, miedo y sexualidad.

Gillian trains Jim in this ethereal cyber world, she suddenly feels the need for company, and Jim fills this void.

However Jim's wife disagrees with this process and Gillian accepts without remorse what she does, because she is going to use Jim for his ultimate purpose.

But when they are intercepted by Delia's assault team, Jim demonstrates what he learned in an epic action sequence, he is ready to go with Gillian to find her son.

This comic is very emotional and we see Gillian vulnerable and more human than ever, leaving everything ready for the final chapter.

Art

Priscilla Petraites stands out with her art, achieving a wide range of feelings in the characters love, hate, fear and sexuality.

Resume

Jim is ready to save his son and Gilliam will finally face Delia.
