Trama
Will, Mabel y el Dr Edwards van hasta la mina para usar una aparato llamado Sonotron, que manda una onda hacia el suelo y al regresar pueden medir densidades geológicas. Pero cuando lo empiezan a usar son atacados por la tribu de PAIUTE, su líder Wovoka les advierte que esos suelos están malditos.
Edwards pierde un ojo en el altercado y le muestra a Mabel y a Will lo que grabó el Sonotron, parece gritos de ayuda de las personas que quedaron atrapados en la mina Old Canary hace 7 años, lo cual es imposible.
Mabel confronta al Alcalde Kedrick, ella sabe que su padre y el alcalde tenían un negocio y lleva a Will y Edwards a la casa 1018 en la cima de la montaña donde ta la mina, en este lugar empiezan a revisar una serie de documentos donde el padre de Mabel y sus asociados estaban excavando la mina en un a de las 6 supuestas marcas en el planeta que contienen cuevas que desafían toda las leyes de la física, como portales a otro mundo. La casa empieza a incendiarse por orden del Alcalde.
Por otro lado logran sacar a Thomas, uno de los que estaba años atrapado en la mina, pero no es Thomas es un ser de otro mundo con sed de sangre.
Este cómic es intenso, que mezcla los géneros de western y detective noir, con toques de terror sobrenatural que les dará escalofríos. La narrativa de Snyder posee un ritmo acelerado y preciso, donde todos los detalles son clave.
Arte
Es magnífico lleno de texturas y trazos que ofrecen dinamismo en un tono tétrico apoyado por una paleta de colores espectaculares que exacerban el drama de esta historia adictiva.
Resumen
Los misterios de la mina Old Canary empiezan a revelarse, mientras la ciencia no puede explicar lo que Will, Mabel y el Dr Edwards están presenciando.

Legends sprung up about the mine being cursed or even haunted. Now the Frontier is closed, the gold and silver mines have dried up. The country is becoming "civilized," and yet, in one stretch of the Rocky Mountains, a terrifying, new kind of violence is suddenly emerging. Random killings. People going mad and murdering neighbors, classmates without real cause. When a schoolboy kills his teacher with a hatchet, a famous federal marshal named Azrael William Holt is called in to investigate the killings. What he--and a brilliant young geologist--uncover is stranger and more horrifying than anything they could have ever imagined.

Plot
Will, Mabel and Dr Edwards go to the mine to use a device called Sonotron, which sends a wave towards the ground and when they return they can measure geological densities. But when they start using it they are attacked by the PAIUTE tribe, their leader Wovoka warns them that those soils are cursed.
Edwards loses an eye in the altercation and shows Mabel and Will what the Sonotron recorded, it looks like cries for help from the people who were trapped in the Old Canary mine 7 years ago, which is impossible.
Mabel confronts Mayor Kedrick, she knows that her father and the mayor had a business and takes Will and Edwards to house 1018 at the top of the mountain where the mine is, in this place they begin to review a series of documents where the Mabel's father and his associates were excavating the mine in one of the 6 supposed marks on the planet that contain caves that defy all laws of physics, like portals to another world. The house starts to burn down by order of the Mayor.
On the other hand, they manage to get Thomas out, one of those who was trapped in the mine for years, but he is not Thomas, he is a being from another world with a thirst for blood.
This comic is intense, mixing the genres of western and detective noir, with touches of supernatural horror that will give you chills. Snyder's narrative has an accelerated and precise pace, where all the details are key.
Art
It is magnificent, full of textures and strokes that offer dynamism in a gloomy tone supported by a spectacular color palette that exacerbates the drama of this addictive story.
Summary
The mysteries of the Old Canary Mine begin to reveal themselves, as science cannot explain what Will, Mabel and Dr Edwards are witnessing.
