¡Armagedón ha caído sobre el Universo Marvel y una nueva y audaz era aguarda a los supervivientes! Los guionistas Chip Zdarsky y Joshua Williamson subieron al escenario del panel de Avengers: Armageddon en la Comic-Con de San Diego para revelar nueva información sobre el número final de AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, el clímax de la historia actual de CAPITÁN AMÉRICA, el segundo arco argumental de la nueva serie de AVENGERS y dos nuevos arcos argumentales de la serie en curso de IRON MAN.
El Universo Marvel se encuentra en un punto de inflexión. Después de que el General Thunderbolt Ross, alias Hulk Rojo, liderara un ejército de soldados mejorados con rayos gamma en un intento hostil por "extender la democracia" por Europa, los Vengadores enviaron a su equipo para poner fin a la conquista de Ross, a pesar de las protestas de las Naciones Unidas. David Colton, un antiguo Capitán América que recientemente recibió una enorme mejora de poder gracias a las misteriosas Cajas de Origen, se enfrentó a Ross en una batalla altamente destructiva que causó daños colaterales. Tras la batalla, Hulk Rojo fue capturado y llevado a Rusia por la Guardia de Invierno, mientras que Iron Man descubrió una peligrosa tecnología abandonada que puede mostrar al usuario visiones de posibles futuros.
El descubrimiento de esta máquina y las consecuencias de la batalla entre Red Hulk y Colton se explorarán en los próximos números de AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON y cambiarán la percepción que todos en el Universo Marvel tienen de los superhéroes… a la vez que preparan el terreno para THE AVENGERS #1, de Chip Zdarsky y Marco Checchetto, que se publicará en noviembre.
«En AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, estamos a punto de presentar algo trascendental que marcará el futuro del Universo Marvel», explica el guionista de la serie, Chip Zdarsky. «Sé cómo suena, pero créanme: así será».
Antes de los eventos de AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, Steve Rogers se enfrentó a Red Hulk y cayó en coma por ello. Su alma fue capturada y arrastrada al Infierno, donde Victor Von Doom lidera una rebelión contra las fuerzas de Mephisto. Junto con Doom, las nobles acciones de Steve provocan que un ejército de condenados en busca de redención lo siga. Mefistófeles no ve con buenos ojos tales acciones y ha reunido una horda de demonios para enfrentarse a Rogers y Doom, liderada por uno de los archienemigos de Rogers en la Tierra, Cráneo Rojo.
Adelantando los eventos culminantes de CAPITÁN AMÉRICA #16 y la posibilidad de un cambio de régimen en el inframundo, Zdarsky añadió: «Steve Rogers tiene la oportunidad de redefinir el Infierno. Pan comido».
Si bien el primer arco argumental de la nueva serie de cómics de los VENGADORES aún se mantiene en secreto, Chip Zdarsky reveló una imagen teaser que muestra el cráneo fracturado de Punisher junto con el título del segundo arco: «La Línea Roja». Zdarsky también se mostró muy reservado en cuanto a los detalles.
«Lo único que diré es que escribir sobre Frank Castle es un placer», bromeó Zdarsky.
Mientras tanto, en la serie actual de IRON MAN del escritor Joshua Williamson, Tony Stark se enfrenta a una de sus peores pesadillas, hecha realidad por una vengativa Madame Masque y una nueva encarnación del grupo terrorista A.I.M. Las constantes reacciones de Stark ante las manipulaciones de A.I.M. lo han puesto bajo la lupa de sus compañeros héroes, mientras que una misteriosa figura que se hace llamar Citizen V implora a sus aliados más cercanos que se distancien de él. Con tecnología peligrosa circulando y su comportamiento cada vez más temerario bajo el escrutinio público, Stark termina tras las rejas en la prisión de alta tecnología conocida como La Bóveda, mientras que «El Iron Man Encarcelado» se estrena en diciembre con la artista Carmen Carnero.
“‘El Hombre de Hierro Encarcelado’ es la historia que hemos estado preparando desde IRON MAN #1”, detalla el guionista de la serie, Joshua Williamson. “Tony ha aceptado su papel como el héroe más peligroso del Universo Marvel y cree que la Bóveda es el lugar más seguro para él, pero eso también significa que está encerrado con algunos de sus mayores enemigos. Sin embargo, es un misterio cómo y por qué Tony se encuentra tras las rejas. Ha sido divertido desarrollar su historia y luego llevar a Tony en una dirección nueva e inesperada. Esto convierte la serie en un thriller de alto riesgo”.
A partir de la Parte 1 de ‘El Hombre de Hierro Encarcelado’ en IRON MAN #12, la serie se publicará dos veces al mes con arcos argumentales y artistas alternos hasta marzo de 2027, como parte de la antesala de IRON MAN #700.

New York, NY— July 23, 2026 — Armageddon has fallen upon the Marvel Universe and a bold new age awaits the survivors! Writers Chip Zdarsky and Joshua Williamson took to the stage of the Avengers: Armageddon panel at San Diego Comic-Con to reveal new information about the final issue of AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, the climax of the current story in CAPTAIN AMERICA, the second arc of the new AVENGERS series and two new story arcs from the ongoing IRON MAN series.
The Marvel Universe is at a turning point. After General Thunderbolt Ross, aka the Red Hulk, led an army of gamma-enhanced soldiers in a hostile effort to “spread democracy” across Europe, the Avengers dispatched their team to put an end to Ross’ conquest despite protest from the United Nations. David Colton, a former Captain America who recently received a vast power upgrade from the mysterious Origin Boxes, engaged Ross in a highly destructive battle resulting in collateral damage. In the aftermath of that battle, the Red Hulk was captured and removed to Russia by the Winter Guard while Iron Man discovered a highly dangerous piece of technology left behind that can show the user visions of possible futures.
The discovery of this machine and the consequences of Red Hulk and Colton’s battle will be explored in upcoming issues of AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON and change how everyone in the Marvel Universe feels about super heroes… while setting the stage for November’s THE AVENGERS #1 by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto.
“In AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, we're about to introduce something huge, that will set the scene for the future of the Marvel Universe,” explains series writer Chip Zdarsky. “I know how that sounds but trust me: it will.”
Prior to the events of AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON, Steve Rogers confronted the Red Hulk and was placed into a coma for his efforts. Steve’s soul was then captured and pulled down into Hell where Victor Von Doom leads an uprising against Mephisto’s forces. Together with Doom, Steve’s noble deeds cause an army of the damned seeking redemption to follow him. Mephisto isn’t taking kindly to such actions and has assembled a horde of demons to confront Rogers and Doom, led by one of Rogers’ archenemies from back on Earth, the Red Skull.
Teasing the climactic events of CAPTAIN AMERICA #16 and the possibility of regime change in the netherworld, Zdarsky added, “Steve Rogers gets the chance to redefine Hell. Easy.”
While the opening arc for the new AVENGERS comic series is still being kept mostly under wraps, a teaser image by Chip Zdarsky depicting a cracked Punisher skull was revealed alongside the title of the second arc: ‘The Red Line.’ Zdarsky was similarly tight-lipped when it came to details.
"All I’ll say is Frank Castle is fun to write,” Zdarsky teased.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing IRON MAN series by writer Joshua Williamson, Tony Stark has faced one of his greatest nightmares brought to life by a vengeful Madame Masque and a new incarnation of the terrorist group A.I.M. Stark’s continued reactions to A.I.M.’s manipulations have put him under the microscope of his fellow heroes while a mysterious new figure calling themselves Citizen V implores Tony’s closest companions to distance themselves from him. With dangerous technology making it out into the wild and his increasingly reckless behavior being scrutinized by the public, Stark ends up behind bars in the hi-tech prison known as The Vault as ‘The Incarcerated Iron Man’ kicks off in December with artist Carmen Carnero.
“‘The Incarcerated Iron Man’” is the story we've been building to since IRON MAN #1,” details series writer Joshua Williamson. “Tony has accepted his role as the Marvel Universe's most dangerous hero and believes the Vault is the safest place for him to be, but that also means he's locked up with some of his greatest enemies. But it's a mystery how and why Tony finds himself behind bars. It's been fun to build on his history and then take Tony in a new and unexpected direction. This turns the series into a high-stakes thriller.”
Beginning with Part 1 of ‘The Incarcerated Iron Man’ in IRON MAN #12, the series will ship twice a month with alternating story arcs and artists through March 2027, as part of the lead up to IRON MAN #700.
“The journey to our epic Iron Man #700 anniversary issue is so big that we had to split the book into two and double ship it,” continues Williamson. “Our amazing series artist Carmen Carnero will handle the even-numbered issues where Tony Stark is in prison. While the odd numbered issues are taken over by the ‘War Machines.’ James "Rhodey" Rhodes puts together a new team of Armored Warriors to help take down Madame Masque, Adam Ware and the new A.I.M. while Tony is locked up. For those issues we're joined my old partner in crime, Gleb Melnikov! I feel lucky to have two amazing artists on my team during this action-packed story!”
