Matt Hawkins es un escritor veterano en los cómics que estuvo en el lanzamiento inicial de Image Comics. Comenzó su carrera en la publicación de cómics en 1993 y ha estado trabajando con Image como creador, escritor y ejecutivo durante más de 20 años. Desde 1998 hasta la fecha es Presidente/COO de Top Cow Productions y además maneja todo lo relativo a aspectos de negocios de la empresa.

El 8 de marzo de 2023 sale a la venta A.R.C, ANIMAL RIGHTS COLLECTIVE (ONE-SHOT) el nuevo comic sobre crimen y misterio sobre derechos de los animales y ecologismo donde Matt Hawkins es escritor con Paul Feinstein.
En base a este importante lanzamiento de Top Cow, realizamos una entrevista a Matt sobre este nuevo proyecto.
1.- Esta nueva serie dista mucho de tus trabajos recientes como Swing, entonces, ¿cómo encontraste la nueva musa para esta nueva serie ecológica?
Este fue un lanzamiento externo y no mi idea inicial, por lo que la "musa" serían los creadores originales. Paul Feinstein trabajó con nosotros para desarrollar la toma y ayudó con la investigación.

2.- ¿Por qué crees que esta serie es tan relevante?
Son los usuarios finales los que impulsan la caza furtiva. Es una empresa criminal que se extiende por todo el mundo y genera miles de millones de dólares ilegales... muy pocos de los cuales encuentran el camino de regreso a África. Los verdaderos "cazadores furtivos" a menudo son jóvenes africanos hambrientos que no tienen muchas opciones económicas y arriesgan sus vidas matando a estas hermosas por centavos... apenas lo suficiente para que sobrevivan. Cometen el acto, pero los motivadores y los que se enriquecen viven en países como China y Estados Unidos. Siempre me ha gustado educar clandestinamente entreteniendo... siempre ha sido mi objetivo.

3.- La trama de esta serie toca problemas importantes y reales del mundo. De todos estos crímenes contra los animales y la ecología, ¿cuál de los que investigaste o atacaste en el cómic te impactó más?
Hay varios casos en los que se matan tigres, tiburones, rinocerontes y solo se les quita un colmillo, un pene o una aleta... dejando que el resto del animal se pudra.

4.- ¿Puedes decir algo sobre tu próximo proyecto con TOP COW?
Después de ARC es mi spin-off de Swing Swipe! sobre dos personas de mediana edad que intentan tener una cita en línea por primera vez y, por supuesto, se producen travesuras.

1.- This new series is far from your recent works like Swing, so how did you find the new muse for this ecologic new series?This one was an external pitch and not my initial idea so the "muse" would be the original creators. Paul Feinstein worked with us to develop the take and helped with the research.2.- Why do you think this series is so relevant?It's the end users that drive poaching. It's a criminal enterprise that spans the globe and makes billions of illegal dollars...very few of which find their way back to Africa. The actual "poachers" are often starving young African men who don't have many economic options and risk their lives killing these beautiful for pennies...barely enough for them to survive. They commit the act but the motivators and those getting wealthy live in countries like China and the USA. I've always liked to clandestinely educate while entertaining...always been my objective.3.- The plot of this series touches on important and real problems in the world, Of all these crimes against animals and ecology, which of those that you investigated or attacks in the comic impacted you the most?There are several instances where tigers, sharks, rhinos are killed and only a tusk, a penis or a fin or taken...leaving the rest of the animal to rot.4.- Can you say something about your next project with TOP COW?After ARC is my Swing spinoff Swipe! about two middle aged people trying to online date for the first time and of course hijinks ensue!
