Ghost Machine Productions lanza GEIGER en un nuevo volumen, del escritor Geoff Johns, el artista Gary Frank y el colorista Brad Anderson. Esta serie de cómics tendrá frecuencia mensual y forma parte de la primera ola de cómics de Ghost Machine Productions. La serie sigue las aventuras de Tariq Geiger, el misterioso Hombre Resplandeciente presentado por primera vez en la exitosa serie GEIGER Vol 1 de Johns y Frank, que se lanzó en 2021 y fue publicada por Image Comics. GEIGER también se está desarrollando para televisión en Paramount TV con Justin Simien como director.

El misterioso norteño no puede explicar cómo lo sacaron de la Guerra Civil y lo arrojaron al páramo tras la Guerra Desconocida, y el último hombre dispuesto a guiarlo es Tariq Geiger, el Hombre Resplandeciente. Pero a medida que los enemigos se acercan y los viejos fantasmas resurgen, la llegada del norteño podría ser más peligrosa de lo que nadie imagina.

Trama
Este misterioso tanque alemán Nazi aparece de la nada y elimina a los piratas de carretera restantes que estaban en el lugar, al revisar su interior descubren que está tapizado con la mayor comodidad como un carro de la década de 1960, con sillas con los nombres Mr North (Malcom North/The Northerner, finalmente conocemos su nombre), Mr. Pure (Redcoat), Mr Geiger y Ms Hollow, un nombre que ninguno conoce, aparte de aparecer un calendario con la fecha Agosto 36...??. En cada asiento hay artículos personales de cada uno de estos soldados de diferentes épocas, como la fotos de Geiger con su familia.
The Northerner explica cómo ha funcionado sus viajes en el tiempo desde que fue reclutado en 1964 por una mujer que forma parte del DEPARTAMENTO DE PRESERVACIÓN HISTÓRICA, quien nunca le da información precisa, siempre le envía una serie de pistas que él debe resolver estudiando la época en la que es enviado y así ver qué debe cambiar. Este tanque está lleno de pistas y es el vehículo que les llevará seguros hasta Detroit donde supuestamente debe estar la sede del Departamento de Preservación Histórica.
El año 1964 de donde viene The Northerner es una realidad alterna donde la Guerra Civil de EE.UU la gano el Sur, por lo que EE.UU nunca se unió, había dos fracciones, el Norte siguió conectado con el Reino Unido, mientras el Sur siguió con la esclavitud y aliada con Alemania. La Industria de EE.UU nunca existió por lo tanto la Bomba Nuclear no determinó que la Segunda Guerra la ganaron los Aliados, esto generó una distribución geopolítica distinta, donde Japón controla China, Alemania a toda Europa y Rusia es la última potencia que está por caer.
El efecto mariposa de esta realidad es de escala bíblica y The Northerner pudo cambiar esto al hacer que el Norte ganara (Leer Redcoat Vol 2) pero este futuro nuevo donde la Unknown War acabó con todo es posiblemente lo que debe ahora arreglar The Northerner.
El Tanque es en realidad una máquina del tiempo que es atacada por un grupo de niños y preadolescentes con los que Geiger intenta dialogar.
Esta entrega está llena de revelaciones donde explican un poco más de dónde viene The Northerner, pero al mismo tiempo deja una serie de misterios abiertos alucinantes.
Arte
Gary Frank como es de costumbre logra el balance perfecto de un arte sumamente detallado y orgánico con colores claros que no esconde nada. Es hipnotizante cada panel de cada página, cada vez que la aprecias consigues nuevos e increíbles detalles.
La rotulación de Rob Leigh es una explosión de adrenalina onomatopéyica.

The mysterious Northerner can’t explain how he’s been torn from the Civil War and dropped into the wasteland after the Unknown War—and the last man willing to guide him is Tariq Geiger, the Glowing Man. But as enemies close in, and old ghosts resurface, the Northerner’s arrival may be more dangerous than anyone realizes.
Plot
This mysterious Nazi German tank appears out of nowhere and eliminates the remaining highway robbers. Upon inspecting its interior, they discover it's upholstered in the utmost comfort, like a 1960s car, with seats bearing the names Mr. North (Malcolm North/The Northerner—we finally learn his name), Mr. Pure (Redcoat), Mr. Geiger, and Ms. Hollow, a name none of them recognize. A calendar is also found, dated August 1936...??. Each seat contains personal items belonging to one of these soldiers from different eras, such as photos of Geiger with his family.
The Northerner explains how his time travel has worked since he was recruited in 1964 by a woman from the Department of Historical Preservation. She never gives him precise information, always sending him a series of clues that he must decipher by studying the era he's sent to and determining what needs to be changed. This tank is full of clues and is the vehicle that will take them safely to Detroit, where the headquarters of the Department of Historical Preservation is supposedly located.
The year 1964, from which The Northerner originates, is an alternate reality where the South won the American Civil War. As a result, the U.S. never unified; there were two factions. The North remained connected to the United Kingdom, while the South continued with slavery and allied itself with Germany. American industry never existed, therefore the Nuclear Bomb did not determine that the Allies won World War II. This resulted in a different geopolitical distribution, where Japan controls China, Germany controls all of Europe, and Russia is the last power on the verge of collapse.
The butterfly effect in this reality is biblical in scale, and The Northerner could have changed this by making the North win (Read Redcoat Vol. 2). However, this new future, where the Unknown War destroyed everything, is possibly what The Northerner must now fix.
The Tank is actually a time machine that is attacked by a group of children and pre-teens with whom Geiger tries to reason.
This issue is full of revelations that explain a little more about where The Northerner comes from, but at the same time leaves a series of mind-blowing mysteries unresolved.
Art
As usual, Gary Frank achieves the perfect balance of highly detailed and organic art with bright colors that don't hide anything. Every panel on every page is mesmerizing; each time you look at it, you discover new and incredible details.
Rob Leigh's lettering is an onomatopoeic explosion of adrenaline.
Summary
Geiger and The Northerner venture out to follow the clues left behind to reverse this future in a comfortable tank from another era.
