THE MORTAL THOR FACES A TRIAL OF THE GODS WITH THE FATE OF ASGARD AT STAKE IN A SPECIAL OVERSIZED ANNIVERSARY ISSUE

This monumental issue celebrating 800 issues of THOR includes a new story from series writer Al Ewing and artist Pasqual Ferry, plus anniversary stories from writer Chris Condon and artist Jesse Lonergan, writer Kieron Gillen, and more, on sale in August.

New York, NY— May 7, 2026 — In a world without a God of Thunder, lightning still strikes! This August, writer Al Ewing and artist Pasqual Ferry celebrate 800 issues of THOR with a special anniversary issue that pits Sigurd Jarlson, the Mortal Thor, up against The Serpent’s most heinous test yet. With the fate of the Ten Realms hanging in the balance and no superpowers or enchanted hammers to wield, Sigurd’s quest to prove himself worthy and restore life to the forgotten god of Asgard will set the stage for the third act of Ewing’s mythos-shaking THOR saga.

At the end of Ewing’s IMMORTAL THOR, the God of Thunder met his fate and died as a sacrifice to power a spell by his sibling Loki. This spell saw Thor forgotten by those who knew him and the rest of the Asgardians seemingly forever severed from the realm of Midgard. But the story continued in MORTAL THOR, as a new hero rose on the streets of New York City, a hero with no powers, just a determination to right wrongs—with a hammer. Seeking a normal life but forced to step into the fray, Sigurd Jarlson found himself beset by threats from Thor’s past including the vicious Donald Blake, aka The Serpent, and Mr. Hyde. Sigurd’s encounters with these villains have led him closer to uncovering the mystery tying him to the missing Asgardian God of Thunder, with a pivotal moment set to take place in August’s issue of MORTAL THOR.

"Issue #800 wraps up some long-running plotlines that have plagued Thor since before his death, but it also sets Sigurd Jarlson on a quest that will send him through the realms of myth to an Asgard that's never needed a Thor more than now,” explains Ewing. “Sigurd is still without any powers beyond his own courage, wits, and willpower -- can a mortal face the trials of the gods, save ten worlds, and bring the Thunder God back to the people who need him? I couldn't ask for a better artist than Pasqual Ferry to help tell this story, and I hope you all enjoy the ride we've got planned for you. #800 is only the beginning!”

MORTAL THOR #14/LGY #800 will also include anniversary stories from rising star writer Chris Condon (Ultimate Wolverine) and artist Jesse Lonergan (Drome), plus the return of fan-favorite Thor and Journey Into Mystery scribe Kieron Gillen.

AN ASGARDIAN MILESTONE: THOR #800!

The Serpent has trapped Sigurd Jarlson in the worst of all possible worlds for his greatest trial. Now, without even a weapon in his hand, he must prove himself worthy to enter the Realms of the Gods. Somewhere in the city, a man without even a hammer begins the ultimate quest...the quest for Thor!

Nadie vendrá a ayudarnos.

THE LEGEND OF THE IMMORTAL THOR COMES TO AN END. THE STORY OF THE MORTAL THOR BEGINS!

Following today’s IMMORTAL THOR #25, Al Ewing’s acclaimed run continues in MORTAL THOR #1 next month.

Check out the first three covers of the new series, which sees the God of Thunder reborn as a mortal.

New York, NY— July 2, 2025 — The final issue of IMMORTAL THOR, the acclaimed series by myth-making writer Al Ewing and a host of superstar artists including Martín Cóccolo and Jan Bazaldua, hit stands today. The series ended with Thor’s shocking death, setting the stage for the all-new MORTAL THOR #1 next month where Ewing takes the God of Thunder in a bold new direction alongside legendary Thor artist Pasqual Ferry. Today, the first three covers of this exciting new chapter are fully revealed to fans for the first time!

The God of Thunder has been on a hero’s journey worthy of Asgardian legend, triumphing in thunderous battle against the Gods of Utgard. At the cusp of victory against these exiled Elder Gods, a dark prophecy was fulfilled—Thor was slain by Loki! To protect Asgard, the Rainbow Bridge was shattered, wiping Thor and all of Asgard from Midgard’s memory...

THE LEGEND BEGINS!

The Norse Myths tell of Gods who walked the Earth, doing great deeds for the mortals who believed in them. But Asgard isn't real, and never was. The Gods never soared in our skies, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. Nobody's coming to help us. But somewhere in the city... a man is waking up. A man with a hammer. This is the story of Sigurd Jarlson, the MORTAL THOR!

"Now that IMMORTAL THOR #25 is on the stands for you to read - and please do - we can be a little more open about the exact nature of the second act of the story,” Ewing explained. “This was an idea that sprang into being from the original pitch; I wanted to treat Thor as a God, and give him a truly mythological story... but as well as the son of Odin, he's the son of Gaea. So we find ourselves in winter. Thor is dead, and Sigurd Jarlson walks the earth - without power, without fame, without memory. And yet the fate of Asgard and Midgard rests on this mortal man making the journey to return the magic of the Gods to the Earth. And to get there - to even learn the nature of the quest - he's going to have to fight."

Nadie vendrá a ayudarnos.

A LEGEND BEGINS ANEW IN THOR #1!

Al Ewing’s mythology-bending run of IMMORTAL THOR is brought down to Earth this August in THOR #1, a new era of the title with artist Pasqual Ferry!

New York, NY— May 20, 2025 — Thor’s impending demise in the pages of Al Ewing’s IMMORTAL THOR has been teased for months. Now, learn about his coming rebirth! Following IMMORTAL THOR #25 in July, Ewing will launch a new run of THOR alongside artist Pasqual Ferry, who makes a thunderous return to character following his acclaimed work during Matt Fraction’s Thor run. A major shift in Ewing’s overall Thor narrative, THOR #1 sets up a captivating new status quo for the God of Thunder unlike any in his 60+ year history.

THE LEGEND BEGINS!

The Norse Myths tell of Gods who walked the Earth, doing great deeds for the mortals who believed in them. But Asgard isn’t real, and never was. The Gods never soared in our skies, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. Nobody’s coming to help us. But somewhere in the city... a man is waking up.

A man with a hammer.

"Since the very first issue of IMMORTAL THOR, Thor's been facing the end of his tale... but that was only the end of Act One,” Ewing explained. “As the next chapter begins, Thor must face threats he's never faced, from a place he's never been... until now. Is he alive? Is he dead? Is he immortal... or much, much more? You'll have to join us to find out."

GODZILLA TAKES ON THE GOD OF THUNDER IN GODZILLA VS. THOR!

This July, legendary Thor writer Jason Aaron and superstar artist Aaron Kuder deliver Godzilla’s most thunderous Marvel showdown yet in GODZILLA VS. THOR #1, the final of six one-shots where Marvel heroes battle Godzilla across different eras!

New York, NY— March 20, 2025 — Godzilla’s rampage across the Marvel Universe kicks off next week in GODZILLA VS. FANTASTIC FOUR #1 by Ryan North and John Romita Jr., the first of six one-shots pitting the King of the Monsters against iconic Marvel super heroes. The GODZILLA VS. one-shots are just the beginning of an exciting new collaboration between Marvel Comics and Toho International, the Japanese studio’s U.S.-based subsidiary that has brought global sensation Godzilla to life, and will conclude this July in GODZILLA VS. THOR #1 by legendary Thor scribe Jason Aaron and acclaimed artist Aaron Kuder.

Taking place across various eras of both Marvel Comics AND Godzilla storytelling, these highly anticipated one-shots span the decades as Godzilla fights Marvel’s First Family in the Silver Age, throws down with the Hulk during the character’s influential ‘70s adventures, dukes it out with Spider-Man during the Wall Crawler’s ‘80s Black suit era, targets mutantkind at the peak of the X-Men’s popularity in the ‘90s, and confronts the iconic 2000s New Avengers lineup of Earth’s Mightest Heroes. Then, for the grand finale, Godzilla marches toward the Golden Realm to face off against perhaps the only Marvel hero who can truly take him on singlehandedly—THE MIGHTY THOR! Jason Aaron makes his triumphant return to Asgard for a battle that will shake the heavens with roaring thunder!

ROUND SIX: VS. THE GOD OF THUNDER!

The deadly group of assassins known as THE HAND have bestowed GODZILLA with the power of THE BEAST! KRA-KOOM!!! THOR must defend MIDGARD from GODZILLA — but at what cost?!

“There are almost as many toy kaiju in my office as there are Mjolnirs, which is really saying something, so it made sense for me to bring two of my favorite characters together for one titanic clash,” Aaron shared. “Aaron Kuder and I are using the Godzilla from Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, one of the most brutal and powerful versions of the King of the Monsters, so expect a colossal battle that I think will rival some of the most epic, cosmic throwdowns I've ever written with the God of Thunder.”

What does it come from?
ALL-FATHER VERSUS SKYFATHER IN A 775th ISSUE CLASH OF TITANS! Thor and Hercules were trapped in a realm of endless night...where Nyx and her children were at their full power. But there was a greater danger caged in this dark realm - Zeus, King of the Greek Gods! And when twin thunders met, could either survive? This is the story of the IMMORTAL THOR...and the second test of three.

Plot
This comic originally tells the birth of the Greek gods descended from the Titans Cronus and Uranus, where Zeus is marked by the Wheel of Fate.

Thor fights Zeus, all of Zeus' lightning attacks are controlled and dodged by Thor who takes his power and Thor now possesses the power of Odin and Zeus, allowing him to clearly see the Wheel of Fate.
