TIME RUNS OUT AND THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE COLLIDES IN NEW INCURSIONS ONE-SHOTS!
Five new one-shots revisit the cataclysmic days before Secret Wars, bringing iconic Marvel universes together in battles where only one reality can survive.

New York, NY— August 18, 2026 — This November, return to when TIME RAN OUT!

Five multiverse-shattering INCURSIONS one-shots will harken back to the advent of Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić’s Secret Wars, revealing the untold battles from the Marvel multiverse’s final days.

The series kicks off with X-MEN: INCURSIONS #1 by Alex Paknadel and Jim Towe, pitting two iconic mutant realities—Days of Future Past and House of M—against each other. The series continues with SPIDER-MAN: INCURSIONS #1 by Christos Gage and more; FANTASTIC FOUR: INCURSIONS #1 by Ethan S. Parker, Griffin Sheridan, and Paco Medina; X-MEN '92: INCURSIONS #1 by Chris Yost, Craig Kyle and more; and AVENGERS: INCURSIONS #1 by Al Ewing and Fran Mariscal Mancilla. In each one-shot, worlds from Marvel history collide, with only one left standing. Fans will journey across a wide range of universes from Marvel storytelling, including classic eras, alternate timelines and beloved media adaptations.

It was the catastrophe that led to the end of both the Ultimate and Marvel Universes and birthed the conflict known as Secret Wars, but not every story of those dark days has been told!

In X-MEN: INCURSIONS #1, witness what happens when the universe of the mutant-ascendent HOUSE OF M intersects with that of the DAYS OF FUTURE PAST! In eight hours, only one can survive, or both will collide and be utterly annihilated! This devastating choice is left in the hands of Kate Pryde!

Kicking off the series, writer Alex Paknadel said “As someone who sincerely relishes the challenge of dancing between the raindrops of continuity, this project was all my Christmases come at once. I got to tell a story about what really matters, and I got to do it against the backdrop of three (!) of the biggest Marvel events of all time. I really love my job sometimes."

What does it come from?

BRING ON THE BAD GUYS! SPIDER-MAN, freshly attired in his new ALIEN COSTUME, is pulled from the SECRET WARS to face a NEW challenge - the might of the HOBGOBLIN, BARON ZEMO, ELECTRO, CONSTRICTOR and more! Not a hoax! Not an imaginary story! But how did THIS set of villains find their way into the BATTLEWORLD of SECRET WARS?! Only this issue holds the answer to this forty-year mystery! Do not miss Tom DeFalco and Pat Olliffe's ALL-NEW in-continuity tale featuring SPIDER-MAN, HUMAN TORCH and a slew of surprises!

Plot

Spider-man and The Human Torch manage to escape the attack of Absorbing Man and Hobgoblin, and then meet Falcon, Iceman and Daredevil with whom they form an alliance.

Hobgoblin and Ansorbing Man meet with other villains such as Baron Zemo, Electro and Constrictor, who prepare an offensive.

This battle is still part of an experiment on Spider-Man's leadership abilities, who now begins to see how the costume behaves strangely and makes his thoughts come true.

Exciting story that nourishes the original event, maintaining the tone of Secret Wars.

Art

It is very detailed and preserves that vintage tone of the comics from the 1980s but at the same time refreshes them with a cool dynamism. The way it shows what Spider-man's webs look like before Mcfarlane is nostalgically cool.

Summary

Spider-man is still part of the experiment to test his abilities to endanger his allies.

The series returns to when Marvel’s greatest heroes and deadliest villains were pit against each other on Battleworld by the unbelievably powerful Beyonder. Industry icon Tom DeFalco, former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief and the editor of the original Secret Wars, teams up with acclaimed artist Pat Olliffe to expose this new Battleworld adventure starring Spider-Man and the Human Torch!

Today, fans can check out all the covers plus all-new interior artwork. Fitting seamlessly between the pages of the original series, MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD will take place after Spidey receives his iconic black alien costume that would one day become Venom! This new preview recaptures familiar Secret Wars moments and shows the beginning of Spidey and Human Torch’s secret mission.

MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD also holds answers to a 40-year old mystery with shocking appearances by characters that you didn’t even know fought in Secret Wars! As seen on the cover of MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD #2, villains like Baron Zemo, Hobgoblin, Electro, Constrictor, and more found their way onto Battleworld. What do these characters have in common? Fans know that MARVEL SUPER HEROES SECRET WARS didn’t just impact comic book storytelling, it launched a spectacular Marvel Comics toy line! The beloved Secret Wars toy line included various heroes and villains who didn’t make into the original event—until now! Learn what their roles were and stay tuned to future issues to see what other heroes and villains show up!

“Pat Olliffe and I were handed a daunting creative challenge,” DeFalco said. “We were asked to do a sequel/new tale of a classic Marvel story that first saw print 40 years ago and created ripples that are still felt throughout the universe today. Since we share a kinship with a certain web-swinger (and his family), we were also compelled to do a story that ripped to his core and defined his unique place in the Marvel Universe while examining the budding relationship with his new black costume. With the aid of editors Mark Basso and Drew Baumgartner, Pat and I constructed a tale that we believe has repercussions for today’s readers and creative ripples that we hope will still be felt 40 years from now.”

“Whether you never read SECRET WARS, or spent the 80s poring over the comics in between fighting with your Secret Wars figures and their Secret Shields…you’re going to come away from this adventure with a complete story and, if you are a longterm fan, an even greater understanding of the characters and stakes in this greatest of wars!” Editor Mark Basso added.
